Hi guys, im finding to like this game more once spending more time with it, it has a lot of depth but will take some time to fully be able to grasp on how to manage things.

right now i have a question/concern. In the master's note for ship design i remember it mentioning something about how the AI will automattically create updated ship designs. But it seems to me that the designs areold eagle attack and hawk defense ships that are not up to date technology. So i have to autobuild my ships(which is not hard), but it gets outdated very quickly since new technology are researched very fast. Is there any way to have the AI automatically update ship designs as technology is available?

and also WHERE is the refit option :'( ???

thanks

It is very easy to refit old ship designs to take advantage of new technology. Since nobody seemed to figure it out in another thread I discussed this in, I will outline the exact steps needed to refit a ship. In the following example, we will be refitting the original Hawk Defense ship, to take advantage of better engine technology.

1. Click on your Shipyards tab at the bottom of the screen, this should bring up a new window, you should already be on the Ship Design tab.
2. Click the tab that says Current Design, to bring up a list of currently designed ships.
3. Highlight the 'Hawk Defense' ship by clicking on it. You should see a list of the ships components below (life support, weapons, etc.)
4. Highlight the component you wish to "upgrade" (01 Thrusters in this case)
5. We'll have to remove the Thrusters engine to make way for a new engine, so click the Remove Item button. This should remove thrusters from the list of components. At this point, you'll notice the Confirm Design button has lit up. This is because we've made changes to the ship. Trying to confirm design at this point will result in an error "Invalid Design". A ship must have an engine!
6. Click Engine on the left, this will bring up an engines window.
7. Select the upgraded engine you would like to use. In this case, select Hydrogen Fuel Cells (or if you don't have the technology, Improved Thrusters).
8. Click Confirm to add the engine to the list of components.
9. Our new, refitted Hawk Defense design is complete. Click Confirm Design.
10. At this point, if you look under the Current Design list of ships, you will see 2 named 'Hawk Defense'. The one listed at the bottom is our new, improved 'Hawk Defense'. Highlight the old version and click Make Obsolete.

Thats it! Refitting made easy!

why not just make a new design and click autobuild button and make the old hawk design obsolete and make the new desgin instead? =0... but i wish the AI could automattically update ship systems as technology comes in in the designs because its really hard to keep up with the technology.

Because maybe you want to keep all the other components of a design and just change one aspect, such as the engine. Changing an existing model is easier than creating one from scratch, even with auto-build.

Hi

I tried it and it did not upgrade my old ships.. They still show up in the Fleet Tab as Obsolete with no change to them.

Any ideas?

Tyveil's refit was really redesign. There is no way to change any existing ship (deployed or not) to another configuration.
