This has probably been answered a million times before, but I was unable to find anything while digging through the countless FAQs and archived posts.

While using a Microsoft Intellimouse 3 (insert mindless Microsoft bash here), I'm able to bind mouse4 and mouse5 to actions like alt-fire in other games (CS, NS, Quake2-3), but not un UT or UT2k3. I've installed the default MS software package in an attempt to rectify... no dice. I'm out of ideas.

Sys Specs...

Athlon XP 2700
Geforce4 Ti 4400
WinXP Corp
1GB RAM, DDR 2700
Asus A7V333 Mobo

I don't understand what you mean. You never really asked a question. I have an Intellieye (sp) Wireless Optical Explorer Mouse and binding is fantastic! Withen the MS software, I can use the Program Specific option and set it up for UT. And I set my large thumb button to CTRL.

Then, I go into my User.ini for UT. And I set it to this CTRL=getweapon ShockRifle | getweapon UT_Eightball so that in UT when I press my large thumb button, it pulls out the Rocket Launcher, and if I press it again, it changes to the Shock Rifle. (Note: It always takes what you put second, first). So does that answer your question?

If your question was how to bind your primary mouse button to fire and secondary mouse button to alternate fire... try what I said, but with other buttons. In the mouse program for your mouse, make sure for UT, left click is set for Click (Global) and right click is set to Right click.

Also, in UT, go to options and click to change the key for Fire, and then just left click. It should set it right. Same for right click.

Oh man... that's not quite what I was originally looking for, that actually sounds better. I'd never quite looked at it like that before. I'll try it out, thx.

Hi.

I reply to this threads after a search :)

The prob with this solution is u can't use the extra button for other purpose :
for example I use the extra button with internet explorer (Previous/next) ...
So is there a solution to use the button with their default setting ?
(without reassigning)
Why in other game/app the button are rcognised ? ut does use direct input :/ thought

regards.

I don't think so. Because the extra buttons are usually for Back and Forward in Internet Explorer. You have to set them to a specific button in order to allow them to be bound. You can only bind to a button, not an action.

yeah you have to reassign the extra keys for windows usage and UT.. pretty boring.
Would be cool if the mouse software had some idea of key profiles. I mean a combo box which you would save you mouse preferences for difference games etc...

They do... my mouse program has 'Program Specific' sets. Meaning the big thumb button can be 'Back' in Internet Explorer, 'Minimize' in Winamp, and 'Close' in Yahoo! Messenger. Oh wait, mine is set like that. ;) So you set the controls in UT's User.ini and in your mouse program, and you're all set. I guess all programs don't have the program specific option?
