I believe there was a thread a while back that got over 1000 posts. It was something about why no one should be able to doubt there is a god. I don't remember the title though. It probably had around 1700 or so.

Also, the mods close threads over 1000 replies long in all forums.

no its not true, there are at least 6 thread with over 1000 posts, one of those has 34099 posts in it. so it has over 1000 pages at 30 posts a page. :D

The reason for locking 1k+ threads was a stability problem. Its probably been addressed for years but the rules continued.

Highly unusual. Either those mods don't know of the rule or just don't want to enforce it. Maybe it's more Pez and Obispo that enforce it. But I can think of more than one occasion that a thread over 1k replies has been closed.

Although that's back when they were archiving. Maybe they don't close things now because it'll be pruned at some point anyway.

those threads are all pretty active so i think its more not wanting to close them, and getting pruned not likely any time soon.
