4.36 patch and system calling for CD??? [Archive]

At our lan party we have 1 guy that when he installs UT CD1 and then patches it to 4.36. It askes for the cd while patching, that part is OK. Now the game is patched to 4.36. Now when he goes to run the game it either comes up with a window.dll error or askes for the cd to be inserted.
Anyone else playing doesn't need the cd for the game to run.
He is running a dell laptop with windows XP.

4.36 doesn't need the cd in order for the game to run in multiplayer mode. correct???

he has uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, even different directories and still the same errors. Why is this happening???

never seen that either bro
And with 436 you get a no cd crack
must be because its a laptop:D
instead of patching it with the cd
when the part comes up that says to insert the ut cd and points to D:UnrealTournament
make it say C:Unreal tournament(or point to where ut is installed)
doubt it works but worth a try

I might be able to help here's a link that might help you ya see you need the CD for the patch 4.36 so try this link here http://www.crushersplace.tzo.com/FFWebsite/Downloads/Downloads.htm it has some Maps, Mods,Skins and patches for Unreal Tournament it has a NO-CD patch that will let you run patch 4.36 but make sure that it says NO-CD 4.36 ;)

As far ass the 436 patch goes, try installing the bonus packs, then the 463 patch....:confused: I thought 436 would work without the bonus packs, but I could be wrong....

The GOTYE edition has the bonus packs included already, other versions not.

Might try the NoDelta Patch 436, you'll never know.

I have UT - GOTYE... I have installed both discs with the Game Files, etc.

The v436 patch DOES ask for the CD when you run it. It's for verification and for copying a file off of the CD so there's no edits.

Let me re-explain again... Don't skim!

About 7-9 months ago, when I first got UT - GOTYE, soon after I installed the 2 disc set (with Game Files), I patched it with the v436 patch. It asked for Disc 1. I pooped in Disc 1 when it asked, followed through with the wizard, and it installed successfully.

I am running v436 of Unreal Tournament - Game of the Year Edition without problems even since I installed it that long ago.

Got it? The point is, if you have a pirated Unreal Tournament at v432, you won't be able to patch it to v436 without Disc 1 of UT at v432. If you have the ligit game, that's why it is important to keep the game anyway, even though you've installed everything. What will you do if you had gotten rid of the CD's when and if they decide to come out with an official v440 patch? See what I mean?

The patches are going to ask for Disc 1 regardless. So, as long as you have it, there should be no problems.

what im saying instead of absolutley having to have disc 1,and if you dont you can make the directory point to your unreal tournament folder in C:
Thats the way ive allways done ,even tho i have the legit v400 copy it still errors,thats that the way Ive allways had to do it.

When it ask for the cd and point to D:\,Just make it point to C:\UnrealTournament,and bam ittl work

I know your works im just explaining myself.

That's kinda weird, i've got the GOTYE 2cd set also, when i install it and apply the v4.36 NoDelta patch it won't ask for a cd. Are there several versions of GOTYE out there or are you the only one, or maybe i'm the only one.

As far as I know, there are 2 versions of GOTYE : GOTYE 4.32 & 4.36.

Hmmm, i don't know. I have GOTYE, i know for sure, it came with my older graphics-card, and it's version 4.00. CD-1 is the install cd, CD-2 is the compressed textures and the Linux install, and that's the truth. No pirated version, just plain silver CD's.

There are 3 then. I just remembered I have a french version of UT that comes on two CDs. The main differences between them lie a handful of packages.

As far as i know, NoDelta patch v4.36 should work without asking for a cd, since this is the reason why the NoDelta patch was created. Maybe you should download that patch.

You must have got a creative card,I remeber they packed ut with some.
the no delta has issues with the server-side patch 440
could get booted as if the server was seeing a cheat.
plz try the way i explained to install the original 436,before you resort to using no-deltas,or creative 436s

Or, instead, when you install UT for teh 1st time, copy the CD's contents onto your hard drive in a separate folder.

Ahh, now i know why i get kicked out of servers stating i am cheating, even through i have a fresh install and NoDelta update applied, UTPure kicks me out whenever it gets the chance.

So you recommend to install v4.00 and then the normal patch v4.36 and go online, so UTPure doesn't see any cheat that isn't there.

OK, i've installed GOTYE v4.32 and patch v4.36 (not the NoDelta one). Then BonusPacks 1-4 and finally JailBreak3. Nothing else done yet. Started online game and get kicked out instantly with the following.

and two other numbers came up too : (ID:80071 & ID:75481).

I think online playing is almost impossible since UTPure is used, it should make it more fun but i must disagree with that. It's a living hell, have you sorted out the first problem, pops up another one behind you.

I'm now going to look at UTPure to see if i can get things sorted out.

All this work for just the same result.

ive had problems with pure before too,when i used the no delta
also get a cache cleaner and delete it out of your systems folder.

if you have the goty edition, all you need is bonus pack 4 and the 436 patch, bonus packs 1-3 are already included in the install ;)

I have an idea...

Try installing the ChaosUT v1.1 UMOD file... That should surely make it so that you have everything (after you make sure you installed or have all the bonus packs).

And YES the installer update v4.36 did NOW actually asked for CD-1, i must have used the NoDelta all times before.

I have cleaned out the cache and installed the UTPure6E myself.

I didn't tested it yet, report follows when i did.

Huh, yes you did it right, but i forgot to mention that i already installed ChaosUT, kind of forgot about it.

By the way, i've JUST NOW installed XMaps latest version, since i need that. But still not tested it all.

I think servers running version 440+pure senses anything as a cheat but the original v436
Ive tried a few-no delta/creative all got me booted before i could spawn

Tested one (1, wow, yes i know) server and seems to work OK, doesn't get kicked out. But i want to test at least 10 servers before making statements. The whole game loads like lightning and plays absolutely great, but i haven't plugged in the 7Gig of Maps i have laying around, i did however moved the 4Gig Textures to the game but it still runs super-fast. I almost know for sure that the game will slow down when i move the Maps in but i must wait and see.

defrag after you put them in
it should really effect it(that i know) unless your HDD is getting sloppy
