:sour:

I feel bad since my first post isn't a happy one: I'm really getting ticked...

I've tried to install the damn game thrice now, all times having the install more or less fail and fall into a coma at what appears to be just before it's completed. I'm getting rather angry.

I keep getting a Windows - Wrong Volume" error part way through the installation off of the second disc that reads "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume MATRIX_INST1 into drive D:" and that lets me choose to Try Again, Continue, or Cancel.

The first two times I tried it, I just left it alone as it was still installing fine from disc 2, but both times it choked at the end. The third time I interupted the installation and took out the second disc to put in the first one... which only led to a multitude of errors coming on top of my screen and a collapse of the install program to the desktop.

Now I've filled almost 9 gigs of my harddrive with files I can't find to delete and I've spent over a half-hour trying to install a game that I was excited about but now am fighting setting on fire out of frustration.

If anyone can offer any actual help, please do.

cheers,
kuen

Got the same problem. If you have a Virsuscanner running disable it.
I soved the problem by shooting down kaspersky antivir.

I hope that helps.

Two things to offer you.

Use MSCONFIG!!
Click Start, run, type msconfig and hit enter.
click Selective start up.
click the START UP TAB (at the top right)
Click Disabled All. (or just uncheck everything)
click the Services TAB.
Click HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICE (its by the OK button)
CLick Disabled All.
CLick OK
Click Restart.

The other thing i'd try is updating the IDE controller for your Mobo.
Should be listed in your deivce manager uner IDE ATA/ATAPI controller. [This is because I noticed the game asks for a 7200 RPM drive, perhaps some IDE controllers have problems decompressing the large files.]

I'm having the same problem here, I've trie dinstalling it twice already with the same results with nothing open other than NAV 2003.

The messages was:
The Wrong Volume was in the Drive. Please insert the volume MATRIX_INST1 into drive F:."
(I've tried it in both my E and F drives to the same effect)

The wrong volume message seems to pop up right before and/or after it is time to switch CDs in the installation. The first time I ran the installer, it got to the final disc before th einstaller crashed, despite these continuous messages (which after a few tries of continue or try again disappeared temporarily).

Setup terminated at the end with the message:
Error Number: 0x8004070
Description: DLL function call crashed: ISRT._WaitOnDialog

Setup will now terminate.

Has disabling anti-virus solved the problem for anyone else? I"ve installed numerous games in the past, and NAV has never interfered with the installation in any of those cases, although I will give it a try later tonight just in case. .

You can also copy the files from the disks to your hard drive and then install them from there.

I disabled NAV Antivirus on my computer before running the installation, and it installed properly without any errors.

The game looks great so far btw.

i had exactly the same problem, at the end of the installation i got this.

Error number : 0x80040707
Description : DLL function call crashed : ISRT._SdShowMsg
Setup will now terminate

shutdown norton antivirus, fixed the problem

the problem now is, when the installation failed it eat about 4 gig of space at a time, i tried the installation 3 times, so around 10 gig is gone on one drive (e drive), luckily enough i had a new hard drive spare, installed that, first install failed, checked this forum, disabled NAV, tried again, installed successfully but im missing more space, look at this screenshot >

http://home.btconnect.com/will/blah/space.JPG
look on the right hand side
total size : 37.2 gig
used : 29.5 gig
only thing on this drive is the matrix game

how do i recover this lost space :(

managed to get my space back btw, right click on the recycle bin, and empty norton protected files.

Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Same problems. What is up with this game??....First time installing I got the volume error, than I used both cd-rom drives to keep disc 1 in E and used the other for the rest of the install, no more volume error. Patted myself on the back and went to launch the game. And here I find I have no full screen??...I have a P4 with 1.8 and 256Mb of ram...what gives.

I am going to try the disable antivirus thing, but I wont be holding my breath. Something tells me I should have got a differant game. If it works, ill post and let you all know.

1) Disable Norton anti Virus before installing. If they are not sure then follow these instruction for limiting background programs.

Click Start, select 'run'

In the 'run' field type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) and click OK

When the System Configuration Utility windows appears put a dot next to

the 'Selective Startup' option.

At the bottom of the same screen, take the tick out of 'Load Startup Group Items'

Click OK and you will be prompted to restart you computer.

Once the computer has restarted go into the game again and the problem should be resolved.

The utility 'msconfig' starts the pc with nothing running in the background at all other than 'Explorer'. This should prevent any background applications conflicting with the game, but you should not attempt anything else on your computer apart from our software without resetting the option to Normal.
