According to screamscape.com (http://www.screamscape.com/html/hersheypark.html), Herseypark will be building an Intamin AG Rocket coaster. While it is too early to know if it will be actually be an Intamin, at least we know they are building another custom coaster. Herseypark is not known for building off the shelf coasters (except for Sidewinder- Vekoma Boomerang  ). This means that we should see a new layout that will most likely start near Sidewinder and the layout will be in the area between the Aquatheatre and Trailbrazer. Markings have been spotted and were photographed. They can be found at this link (http://www.geocities.com/coastererichp/Hershey2004.html).
This is certainly good news. Guess I will be heading to Herseypark in 2004.

Well we all know rumors are usually fake i mean someone last year said cedar point was getting a 420 ft 120 mph coaster but we all knew it was going to be the worlds tallest and fastest revoling resturant! ;)

The Intamin Rocket coaster, is in fact not a coaster, but yet it is a resturant, everyone thinks yay! Intamin AG is building a huge coaster in (insert park name here) then it turns out to be in fact a place to get great food. look at knott's, and cedar point, they both have the "Rocket Coaster", but it really is just another food place. hope that clears everything up! hehe ;)
That would be awesome if Hersey park got a new coaster. But could they afford an intamin tho? they are expensive, and certain rides cost a bundle to keep running, B&M would probably be the better way to go for them cause they are affordable and relieable, unless it is an inverted coaster with the lift hill getting the full force of the wind, causing the anti-roll backs on the hill to fail and roll back into the station into other people.

Naturally, the Cedar Point Dragway food stand was the big attraction. That yellow, red, and white thing behind the food stand is just for show. Pay no attention to it. Nothing to see here.
Whoops! Gotta get moving -- got a coaster trip for which I need to pack! Ciao!

Yeah, the Dragway food stand is definately the main attraction at CP.
P.S. Get the Corn Dogs from the Disastor Transport Food stand, they are to die for, along with the fries back by the Gemini.

I worked at Hersheypark for 5 years and their trend has been to build a new roller coaster or "significant" ride every 2 years. Problem is though, they're out of land. Since I've been there I've seen the Sidewinder, Wildcat, Wild Mouse, Great Bear, Lightning Racer and most recently, that stupid water coaster built. They had the Great Bear custom built throughout the park, so it's possible that they'd try to sneak in another one, but I couldn't imagine Mr. Newcomb opening is wallet that wide again.

Well I just went to Hershey Park last week. . . I didn't see anything, then again, I didn't look hard. Sidewinder was the worst, it hurt my head. Banging back and forth backwards isn't too much fun.

Yeh. That is why Cedar Point was given the Best Food award. :haha:

Ain't that the truth for as much as it has worked since it opened. hehe Looks like it is going to be a long season for that yellow, red and white thing.

Hmmm, dangerous comment from a fan of X, which, as I recall, was several months late at opening, then was re-closed for several months! ;)
Yeah but I did not go around talking it up until after all the bugs were worked out and it was running full time. i understand that it is still a newish type of coaster and there for has some bugs that need to be worked out. What I said was more to bug my PASTEy friend than anything else. Also there is no food stand that the ride supports. Well the Churros and coke stand at the start of the queue.

So any news on said rumored coaster? any track show up yet?
Last year CP got some track about a year before they opened dragster, so just wondering if any track has shown up.
And Xman X isn't open regularly, it closes down on wednesdays! hehehe jk, you know me throwing punches, scratching eyes and chuckin' dirt whenever i can! lol! hehe
Yeah Wednesday is a planned closure. They just don't have the staff to run it everyday, and Wednesday is a low attendance day aswell. So kep on throwing that dirt.

That seems to happen quite a bit, where Six Flags lacks the staff to run their full park. That happened at 4 of the 5 Six Flags parks that were on my summer trip this year. The one that really boggled my mind was Fiesta Texas, where, on a Friday with temperatures hitting 102, the waterpark section was completely shut down, as well as a coaster and a couple of spin-n-go-puke rides.
Of course, in my last 17 visits to Six Flags parks over the past 4 years, there's been an average of 1 coaster closed per park due to lack of staff. That's truly sad. In comparison, at all the other 96 parks I've visited in the same time period, there have been 0 coasters closed due to lack of staff, 2 at year-round parks due to annual maintenance, and 3 due to mechanical problems where maintenance was visibly working on the ride. There have also been a couple of coasters closed due to weather. But, the total number of rides (coasters and others!) closed at the 96 non-Six Flags parks is still less than the number of coasters closed at the 17 Six Flags parks. In my books, that's pathetic.
While I agree that is sad I know at SFMM you really need to look at its location. It is not exactly close to anything major. It is north of HellA and yes there are millions of people there but really the closest part od HellA is Burbank, and well not many people there are going to work up the Mountain. It is still a 20-30 minute drive.

I'm sorry to say it, but that's a very poor excuse. Cedar Point's answer to not having enough local people from which to draw is to have employee dorms and apartments, allowing for very inexpensive housing for the employees within close proximity to the park. Holiday World is in the middle of nowhere, but they find enough staff to keep their rides running. The same can be said of Knoebels Amusement Resort, or Magic Springs, or Silver Dollar City and Celebration City, or Michigan's Adventure, or Conneaut Lake Park (although I'll admit they had a rather unique solution to the problem), or Idlewild, or Dollywood. Yet those parks find a way to get the rides open.
Meanwhile, at Astroworld, right in Houston, TX, they can't find enough staff to open all the rides. Same for Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, or Frontier City in Oklahoma City, or Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. (I could add more examples, but those will do.) Based upon what I've seen, I think it isn't that they can't get the people. I think it's that they simply don't want to pay for the people.
By the way, Conneaut Lake Park's unique solution was that they had one person operate a couple of rides. They would run one ride for 20 or 30 minutes, then put up a sign indicating they'd be back in about 20 to 30 minutes, as they would go over and run their other ride for that amount of time. It's not exactly efficient from a rider's perspective, but it does allow people to ride all their rides.
Well I did see that sort of thing going on a SFMM on my last visit. the ride ops were going back and forth between Goldrusher(closed by OSHA right now) and Spin-out but there were enough of them to run both at the same time. Maybe it is that SFI does not pay the best and that is why they can't get peeps to work there, but lets not forget that MM is near LA and there are tons of other jobs in that area.

 Are you serious? Sidewinder is like the best rollercoaster at HP right up there with Lightning Racer. The first drop is like 'Wo!'
