What do you think is the best inverted coaster and why? This includes inverts made by B&M, Vekoma, or Intamin (includes Impulses and Boomerangs). I would have to say Alpengeist at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Virginia. It's built over and through a ravine, with some amazing visuals for both riders and spectators. The sheer power of this ride and size of its elements are truly amazing.

Dueling Dragons, at Islands of Adventure. By themeselves they're great coasters, but the fact that there are two and they duel ius even better. This ride has great timring, is very smooth, and has some really great "foot choppers." also, it has the best wait line in the history of theme parks so far. By far the best inverted coaster.:D

I'm going to have to go with Raptor, since it's tied for my favorite coaster overall! I still maintain that there isn't a better place to sit on any roller coaster than in the front right seat of Raptor. (Although the back of Raptor is lots of fun, too.)
I found Dueling Dragons to be fairly tame. As I recall, I liked the Ice dragon better than the Fire dragon. Of course, the intertwining effect was very nice.
Alpengeist is a wonderful invert. I enjoyed that one. I don't have my log book with me, so I don't recall the details of my opinion on Alpengeist, but I remember really liking that ride.

Not having ridden many inverted coasters, due to living in the UK, I would have to say either Montu at Busch Gardens or Dueling Dragons: Fire.
Both in my view deliever fun rides:D

In the land of inverts comparing my rides against montu, raptor, T2 SFKK); I would thave to say my favorite invert is Batman: The Ride. That is the most intense invert I have ever ridden.

Hmmm, I've ridden Raptor @ CP, Volcano @ PKD, Alpengiest @ BGW, Batman @ SFoG, Deja Vu @ SFoG and Face Off @ PKI. I didn't care to much for the boomerangs, they were ok, but not all that thrilling. Volcano was the shortest and quite pathetic. Batman was ok, it makes #3. Raptor is a great invert, but BGW built Alpengiest which is taller, longer and faster so it's my favorite inverted coaster. Alpengiest also uses it's terrian of ravines and hills to it's full potential while Raptor is built on flat ground.

I like Talon at Dorney Park and Great Bear at Hershey cuz it is the only inverted coaster I rode and that I know of that has that inversion that twists and does that dive afterwards. I dont know the official name of it, but its AWESOME!

Hmm,I'd have to say The Incredible Hulk located at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure...

and Alpengeist, located at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. They both share a similar inversion loop (see above and below)
http://www.rcdb.com/picmax/busch-gardens-williamsburg/alpengeist9.jpg
Alpengeist also has a nice, unique first drop.

Hulk also has a nice catapult launch up a 150 foot tunnel.

I'm going with the Raptor, which I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, is the first inverted coaster to do a cobra roll.

True.
I have only been on one invert worth mentioning. That is Raptor.

Alpengeist by far...
with scenery everywhere, and even having a train on their mini-railway decorated for it, i'd have to say Alpengeist. btw, i've been there sooo many times, it's not funny, and the Alpengeist track layout is one that's hidden from just 1 point of view. i basically had to get an aerial of it from somewhere to be able to get a decent track layout, as, even tho i know the track elements, and the approximate order they're in, it's really hard to figure out what direction i'm going in when i'm going thru the inversions.

I like Raptor because of the Cobra Roll and the speed. Alpengeist rules because of the scenery, unique drop, and the Immelman.

nemesis? i didn't know that was inverted... looking at your tiny avatar pic, i thought it was a hyper-twister.

I just rode Dueling Dragons @ U:IoA for the first time a couple weeks ago. I liked both sides, but Fire was slightly better, but Alpeingiest @ BGW is still my favorite. Fire takes a close 2nd with Raptor taking the #3 spot.

Wicked Twister at CP is the best inverted coaster ever. it is the tallest and fastest inverted coaster. :D

I think everyone knows my favorite. Nothing compares to the speed and sheer power of Alpengeist. Last month alone I rode it four times in the first 20 minutes the park was open and a total of 8 times that day. It never gets old. I do have to say Raptor is a very very close second.

Wicked Twister and Serial Thriller(Vekoma SLC Headbanger). The reason why I say those aren't worth mentioning is because well, the vekoma sucks and WT is just an impluse. Albeit a great impulse.

Here's me:
1) Montu (Busch Gardens Tampa)- I just love this ride, this has so many inversions and great turns and G's around every corner right up to the end! It's also my favorite coaster in Florida
2) Raptor (Cedar Point)- Though I don't really remember this one too much for some reason, I know I did like it, everything on this ride was great, (except for the wait, it was sooooo hot!)
3) Batman: The Ride (Six Flags St. Louis)- This one was awesome, my favorite ride at St. Louis (sorry but The Boss just didn't cut it compared to the Beast)
4) Face-Off (Paramount's Kings Island)- This ride will always have a place in my heart. I went to Kings Island with my church group when I was like 10 the year this ride came out and I rode this ride first thing. This was my first inverting coaster ever and boy was I scared. The fact that it was an hour and a half wait in 90 degree weather didn't help either, boy did I get nervous. But I LOVED IT! This ride is awesome. Riding this ride facing to the front first is frockin' scary since you feel like your gonna fall out!
5) Dueling Dragons Fire (Islands of Adventure)- I have to pick fire over ice. Ice just had a lame ending, fire was good all the way through. But I still like all the rides above better, I mean the dueling part is cool but not the millionth time you ride it (I have season passes).

That's whats great about this. Nobody is right or wrong. It's all personal opinion. There's about twelve different coasters mentioned and they are all good in there own way. I just hope someday I'll be able to ride them all.:D

Since I have only ridden 2 inverted coasters, luckily 1 being Raptor, I would say it is my fave. The other 1 was called Hangman at Opryland USA in Tennessee. I believe it is now at SF Marine World called Kong.

I dont care what you guys say but I think that Thunderhawk at Geauga Lake. I mean, It is compact and twisted and has alot of foot choppers. Also, its placeing on top of a marsh and with the fog, it makes it scary. My second would be Steel Venom at Geauga Lake.

Nemesis=:( Alpengeist=:D!

In my honest opinion, the best inverted is Montu @ Busch Gardens Tampa. I've been on quite a few and Montu is the best. Alpengeist is a very good ride and would probably come in second. Third is Dueling Dragons (note the avatar), they would have placed higher had the rides been longer; but they definitely have the best queue. I also like Serial Thriller (or whatever it's called now) at Geauga Lake.
As for Raptor, it's a good ride, but visuals mean something and Raptor's aren't very good. It runs behind buildings (restaurants, etc.) and I think there is even a few dumpsters back there; not the ideal sites along a coaster's path.

too bad i couldn't get there until 5 yesterday... but, i got stuck onto the last ride of loch ness last night.... woohoo:D
but i forgot about montu... that was pretty good. i had the perfect place to take alpengeist pics yesterday, as the car rides in new france, you can take a certain track of that and get a pretty unobstructed view of it.... the new construction has most of the rooving insulation on it, and i believe it has roof on it. it's about as big as the festhaus, and it's located where the wilde mause used to be.

my guess is no, as i've noticed that BGW has no intention of matching PKD in types of rides, and in ride settings. so my guess is it's probably going to be a German themed ride sim, unless it's released in it's own country with stuff added.
alpengeist04
08-11-2004, 07:46 PM
I'm OK with that, as long as we get a coaster in 2006.;)
RCT2head
08-11-2004, 10:38 PM
woody where Drachen Fire used to be is my guess, as BGW isn't a company that likes to do alot of outward expansion into the undevelpoed land on their property. i guess that they have enough space/ money to double their park in size and rides, set the ticket price higher, and still have a few million left over. but, as they aren't likely to do that, my only hope is it's a new record woody.
hey, wait-a-minute...
i'll bet that there is a way to make an inverted woody, with something like wood coated steel tracks or an inverted wooden track that's trains are engineered custom. i'd like to see a new type of coaster like that sometime soon!
