Recently upgraded my video card to an Nvidia GeForce 4 (64MB). One of the only reasons I got the card was to enhance UT, but it just keeps crashing my system. I've reinstalled UT to recognize my new card, I've experimented with tweaking my UT game preferences, and I've ordered more SDRAM (128MB). I have an AMD Duron 750 MHz and 64MB RAM(currently). I MUST BE ABLE TO CONTINUE PLAYING UT.

UT works fine on my Abit Geforce 4 Ti4200. I have Windows 2000, DirectX 7 and the latest Abit drivers.

Good to hear that UT works with GeForce 4. However, I'm still having difficulty. Please give me a little more info about how you got yours to work. Also, is there any official UT tech support still in existence? I'M BEGINNING TO HAVE UT WITHDRAWAL!!!!

I'm on a G4-MX420
If I use any driver newer than 40.33 (I think that's the one) UT crashes while trying to load maps. Roll back to the last 40.xx driver and see if that helps.
oh yeah, let windows manage your vm !!!
what OS are you on? I'm on 98se

I have a similar problem on my G4 MX440PCI. When I ran it the first time, the screen went black and it played a sound for a split second. Then it absolutely froze. I had to unplug my computer to restart it. So I ran in safe mode, but when I got to the 3D renderer selection, it didn't detect any renderers! Increasing paging file to 512 or downloading the latest patch didn't help, and every time I run it now I get a "Cannot find ini:Engine.Engine.GameEngine" error. It really sucks.
btw this is GOTY.

wow, fast fix.
OK, I deleted the UnrealTournament.ini file (it looks like a gear in XP) from the \system directory. Solved my problem.

I may have totally resolved the whole GF4 / UT problem! I really appreciate all of the feedback from you guys, but in the end the problem was something else: my power supply. Seems that my video card manufacturer recommends a 350 watt power supply and I only had a 250 watt supply. My new card would work really good on most of my other applications and web browsing, but when it came to gaming (any game, not just UT) it simply froze. The new power supply is now in transit and should arrive in the next week. I'll keep you guys posted.

Yesss!!!!!!!!!! UT has returned to my life!!!!!!!!! It only took 2 months to figure out how to make it work w/ a gf4. OK here's what I did. Downloaded the latest Detonator driver for WMe (v4403), disabled my integrated video on my motherboard, reset my refresh rate to the card's default, set my colors to 32-bit, deleted the nvidia corp folder in my registry editor, uninstalled/reinstalled my new Detonator driver, installed a new 350 watt power supply, uninstalled/reinstalled UT, and installed the latest VIA chipset AGP drivers for my motherboard. Also, along the way I upgraded my RAM to 640 MB, but I really don't think that had a lot to do with the fix. In conclusion, it is true. UT does work with the gf4 and boy does it work. So, to all of you still having trouble, have faith and be patient. It takes a lot of time to narrow down the true culprit and a platinum card to charge all of the necessary hardware, but it's worth it!?!!!??

I had this same exact problem :( But, when I started it in safe mode I got it working. Only I now have to play with no sound or else the game won't even start up. It's better than nothing I guess...If anybody knows the reason for this please let me know. :sour:

turn your sound acceleration down 1 notch in dxdiag
start/run/dxdiag/sound

I never had a prob getting UT or any othe geme to run on my G4 card....The only reason I have it is becouse my beloved Voodoo-3500 died :( After I installed the G4 and the OEM drivers, I was up and running no problem on the same 250 power supply. The only problem I have is getting any driver newer than the 40.72 to run. I've tried the 44.33 5-6 times with no luck. UT crashes and I have to reboot into safe mode to uninstall it (not easy to do on a duel boot system).
