Mobile Space bases

Hi all, am fairly new to IG2. It`s a great game. Just wanted to know what is the best way to use the Mobile Space bases. There not much good at holding of against a serious fleet, nor that fast. I`m sure that they have a good purpose but what for ?? Thanx for any assistance.

Those mobile space bases are like many ships in IG2: they are only good in groups. I think it’s silly you cannot place a shield or a death ray on a space base or a mobile one at that. So far the best reason for building a mobile space base is to say, “hey look, I have a base…..that’s MOBILE!” Asides from that, I would build a heavy corvette before I build a mobile space base.

One thing I do like about those heavy space bases, (not Mobile Space bases) they can take one FULL death ray blast and still fire a few rounds before the other guns take them out. Just food for thought.

Mobile Bases are useless for sure.

But with a bit exe tweaking and manipulating hardpoints there is a way to equip anti matter ray and even upgrade hitpoints.

After u have have met a Space Base with 10000 HP u wouldn't say they are useless anymore. ;)

I used to cheat a lot in game, like in Masters Of Orion 1, I tweaked the hex code so I could have 25,000 factories on one planet. I don't like cheating anymore simply because no one game is THAT hard or THAT boring. If a game is really THAT boring, it goes in the trash. I always get a warm fuzzy feeling out of beating a game the old fassion way. Well later

Too right. There is no point in cheating at all. It takes away the fun and challenge of any game. :D

This is not CHEATING, because your ENEMY has these changes too!

I know that cheating in games makes it boring.
If you have had read my post carefully you would see a word like "tweaking" and not "hacking". I'm changing the whole game not the PLAYER only.

Not everyone who modifies files is always a cheater. It depends on how and WHAT has changed.

This is the last post I'm placing here. Gezz Dragon Eye calm down and mow the lawn for a while will you? I may be a "newbe " along with Boba but it seems I take my gaming a bit more realistically than you presume. Boba and I are just pointing out a fact in gaming styles and you attack us? Mobile spaces can carry huge numbers of tanks. Forty each, if I remember correctly. I think the max regular ships can carry is 3 or 4 each.

Other than that, they suck. Slow and fragile.

Mobile bases transport 20 tanks a piece, they aren't worthless as mass tank transports at all!

Yes, I agree, you can use them as tank transports, but you have to have space superiority, for they are easy preys. I use to call them, expensive sitting ducks, so I don´t use them.

One use I have found for mobile space bases is off planet tank storage. It always bugs that you can't easily move your on planet tanks to some remote area so not to interfere with your building pattern. So I store them in a MSB and drop them on planet just prior to an enemy attack. Now an fully equipped MSB has about 80% of the firepower of an top end cruiser so as noted above isnt going to make much of an dent in any sizable fleet. so this should not be considered an priority strategy. but i do find it convient.:)
