I'm running UT on laptop thats loaded with Mandrake Linux 9.1. Here's the Specs:
1.13Ghz P3
512M Ram
ATI Radeon Mobility
20G HD

The install and everything works fine (ut-install-436.run), but when I load the game it's playing at an outragous speed, the whole intro scene takes about 3 seconds (and thats including the end where it reloads the level again). How can I correct the CPU timing so that it's playable? I've tried using Software Rendering and quite a few other features that eat the CPU, but I still load a level and die before I've realized I've spawned. Any sugestions?

Thanks in advance.

It's some option you have to turn off. Maybe it is the prossesor energy management.

My friend has the same problem I thought it was cos he was using an NTFS system and reformatting part of the hard drive to FAT 32 and moving UT there seemed to fix it for a couple of goes, its infuriating, I know, I also now know that its nothing to do with NTFS as another friend runs it fine on an NTFS system

Could it be because of processor throttling (a feature that automatically increases/decreases MHz to save power) ? This often causes problems with UT on Intel CPU-based laptops.

Um so how do you change his setting thing??

In the BIOS ? Or perhaps through some proprietary software provided by the laptop manufacturer ?
