View Full Version : Diplomatic isolation

In my current game (SP) I am playing slightly modified Meklars. Around turn 200 I got diplomatic isolation slammed in my face. I am in the senate, and I can still talk to everyone, but they just don't answer any more. I still get a few wars declared on me once in a while, though...what is the deal here? My overall relations on turn 300 are actually far better; only the gasbags won't leave me alone. What is the downside of DI, and how can I make it stop? No options in the diplo department as far as I can see.
Anyone?

Someone in the Senate doesn't like you. (At least 2 of them, actually). The best thing I can think of is to propose "End Diplomatic Isolation" bill and hope someone seconds it, then hope you have enough votes.

No such bill to post.

Hmmm... Could've sworn there was. Just checked though, using an older saved game and you're right. It may be an option you get when you click on the active bill on the left side of the screen (my old game didn't have that bill in effect against anyone, and my new game I'm not in the Senate, so I'm going by my flaky memory :D ). Let me know how it works out, and I'll try to duplicate it (I play Nommo, so it's bound to come up eventually).

Turn 400 passing by... still getting no replys, but making good progress. Picking a few systems every now and then. Oh, and about 50 turns ago the gasbag got elected president, but no one seems to care. I am just picking off more planets on a steady pace. Is there something wrong here?

Sounds like A) there is a bug in the UI, and B) you disabled senate victory.

Maybe if you just ignore the law??

You can only ignore the senate laws that do not originate from any of the empires. So, spaceprt taxing, etc.

how about end punishment? there's one like that, that's supposed to stop any ongoing diplomatic punishment...

Cease Punishment

can you propose that one? and if it gets seconded and passed, did it work???

Well, somehow or another my Ithkuls got accepted into the senate (don't ask me, I have no froaking idea, the only two not at constant war with me are the two Meklars and they aren't in the Senate) and there were standing Total War and Diplomatic Isolation laws on me. I glanced at my options and it looks like I can ask for both to be ended against other empires, but not against myself. I'll look again more closely next time I play.

what u need to do is make a senate member propose a bill ending your diplomatic isolation

i never really was diplomaticly issolated before but in theory i figured out this must work..

try to improve relations with 1 certain race untill a level you became so worthfull to them they need your help in the senate

especially in the long run , when wars take vast amounts of time to be won the senate is a favorable way to win something

the extra votes u give them will probably be the trigger for the bill.. just hope somebody seconds it and u have superior numbers ;)
