I bought UT when it was first released and it worked fine, even on my new computer. Recently, however (on my new computer), whenever someone dies, or on ocassion when a rocket fires, any sound that is playing (but not the music) stutters and the game slows slightly, seeing as I have not installed anything that I can think of that would do this I was wondering if someone could possibly explain what I should do. I have a feeling that it happens on the loud sounds suggesting that my sound system is getting too much data but cant think how to fix it.
Another problem is that about two weeks ago UT started not to close properly and remains open playing the music in the background, this unfortunatley slows my desktop down immensly.

I am running a Win XP on a 1.44 GHz AMD Athlon, Creative Sound Blaster Live Platinum, 512 DDR RAM, Hard disk is huge, GeForce 3 so I cant see any reason for the lagging sound and ocassional video glitches seeing as how it worked a few months ago, I close all taskbar programs and any background services I dont need but that doesn't seem to help.

HELP PLEASE THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PC GAME!!!!!!!!!!

Open your UnrealTournament.ini (UnrealTournament/System folder) and you will see two audio sections near the top. In both of them, there will be a line that reads Latency=40, change this to read Latency=100

Thanks, though I don't know why I didnt think of something like that I fixed almost all my problems in Unreal 2 with the INI file for it.

Might be an IRQ conflict between your sound and graphics card. I don't know exactly how to fix this.
