View Full Version : Space combat bonuses as a race pick?

I always loved making a race with space combat bonuses in Moo2, even though it wasn't really the best race strategy, it was fun.

I believe I remember seeing that the combat picks were originally supposed to add space combat bonuses... and accuracy in the racemodifiers.txt has bonuses that apparently aren't used. Does anybody know if it is possible to add space combat bonuses back into the game as a race pick? Or it coded to just not work as a race pick?

Yes, I believe it'll work. Take the Zaz's cheat mod for example. He made new racepicks on his own and they really work. You just gotta add the buttons and effects what they do. I haven't studied this much but you'll get lots of info by studing other mods.

Given that the space combat mods that are in the data files don't work, I'm sort of dubious of mods making them work...

That’s basically what I’m wondering... if I put MaxAccry *= 1.2 as a bonus for accuracy, or ArmorVal *= 1.2 for toughness etc. Would it even do anything? With the way combat works in Moo3 it is very hard to verify these things.

All of the tests I've done indicate that nothing you put in racial bonuses affects space combat in the least.

(sigh) that's what I thought. It's too bad, I would really love to play a space combat race.

When I first saw the accuracy table I had a double take because I hadn't noticed it changing my Max Range. I of course tested it and found it a no-go. http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/images_ina_default/icons/icon9.gif
It would have been sweet to make a race with a range bonus. Probably overpowered for only 10 points though.
