Here's some information that was posted on wotmania about book 5 of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson.

Back Cover info:
After decades of warfare, the five tribes of the Tiste Edur have finally united under the implacable rule of the Warlock King of the Hiroth. But peace has been exacted at a terrible price - a pact made with a hidden power whose motives are at best suspect, at worst deadly.

To the south, the expansionist kingdom of Lether has devoured all of its less-civilised neighbours with rapacious, cold-blooded hunger. All, that is, save one - the Tiste Edur. For Lether is approaching a long-prophesied renaissance - from kingdom and lost colony of the First Empire to Empire reborn. And so its people have fixed their avid gazes northward, to the rich and abundant lands and coasts of the Tiste Edur. And beneath the suffocating weight of gold, or by slaughter at the edge of a sword, it seems the Tiste Edur must fall. Or so Destiny has decreed.

As the gathering for a pivotal treaty between the two nears, ancient forces are awakening. For the impending struggle between these two civilisations is but a pale reflection of a far more profound, primal battle - a confrontation with the still-raw wound of an old betrayal and the craving for vengeance at its heart.

Among the Tiste Edur -- among Trull Sengar's people -- it is believed that the darkest hungers of the spirit arrive on the tides from the south, and these tides come at midnight...

War and betrayal, magic and myth collide in this, the stunning fifth chapter in Steven Erikson magnificent 'Malazan Book of the Fallen' sequence - a monumental achievement that is being hailed by readers and critics alike as an epic of the imagination and a fantasy classic in the making.

New interview (http://www.geocities.com/stevenerikson2002/eriksoninterview.html). The new interview is about halfway down the page.

To be honest, this is the book I most want to read out of all the books I'm waiting to be released (Fool's Fate, A Feast for Crows and Wolves of the Calla among that list). And it is interesting to read in that interview that MoI was originally the second book. I agree with Erikson on that score...it turned out much better the way it currently is.

Looks good.. anyone know when the book's actually coming out? The page linked to has exceeded it's bandwidth quota, so I can't see if any info is there.

December should be, though I haven't heard anything definite yet. (The interview mentions that Erikson has just completed the first draft of the book, so December should be quite possible.)

Damn it, why didn't they publish the bloody thing in the US? Anyone? (yes, I know that they will be publishing it here, but I'm grumpy on Saturday nights)

Gah.

*smirks* Got and finished HoC last week... review forthcoming (in a month or so), with NO spoilers (yes, a PR thing! :))... until then, would just like to say it has replaced MoI as my greatest fantasy experience!

Glowing will be an understatement, when that "review" is done :)

I had to, I just had to!

13) Being affiliated with a message board and every so often checking the responses how do you forsee the fans input in the future development of your novels? How would you say that this has helped or hindered your work?

The readership response has certainly helped. As I've said before, they don't miss nuthin. Which is great. It's a complicated relationship, the one between a writer and his or her readers. Traditionally, it's been the lot of many writers to run screaming from all contact with their fans. And sometimes with legitimate concerns -- they're under enough pressure as it is, etc. Witness Stephen King. And sometimes there's this notion that purity of vision can only be maintained in isolation, blah blah. And then there's the inevitable disappointment with this beards thing (I hastily point out, I had a beard long ago but that's because I was working as an archaeologist and we all had beards, even the women, but I've since gotten rid of it with no regrets -- who needs hair, anyway?). We're mostly old farts, you see, and lousy company to boot.

Might be some spoilers if you have not read all the books!!! (http://www.malazan.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=2206041581&f=4276006091&m=5186007863)
