Hello.. i have been playing UT2003 for a long while on my store bought key.

Suddenly, today, i kept getting kicked out of the game with a "Your cd key is invalid or in use by another player" error.

wtf!!!

Has someone stolen my key? It seems this way. I WAS playing on a LAN but i was hooked to the internet. I have NEVER installed any cheats/hacks on my boxes.. ONLY the patch and the bonus pack.. how could this happen? and how can i track this person down and/or make it so i can actually PLAY ut??

thanks,

dan

I have seen this a lot with similar games.... (key required to play)

I've noticed a lot of these folks that have this problem have Kazaa lite or some other similar file sharing program installed on the system. At one point they downloaded "something" (could'a been anything) that was actually a trojan horse file or had one in the zip/rar somewhere (i.e.- they downloaded warcraft and ran it, but the trojan was disguised as readme.exe). These virii usually arn't malicious and will try to hide as much as possible, renaming themselves as other files on the computer... (i.e - winamp.exe) so you run winamp and then it doesn't work anymore, so you figure its broke and reinstall it. Now winamp works again, yay! But the virus has allready done its damage. They will usually set your shared file directory to your WHOLE HARD DRIVE so anyone can download your cd key from the ut configuration files or what ever else they want off your system. I've heard of this so many times its not even funny...anymore... :(
