question. im going to cp on friday the 25th. how crowded is a friday? which rides should i hit first (i think they are obvious) and how many coasters do u think i can ride in one day??? the four i want to ride most is mf, ttd, raptor, and wicked twister. is it possible? i really do not know what to expect. i have a park map, and im planning ahead, cause this will be my only chance to go in a while. thanks

Fridays often have lots of families with smaller children. As a result, the lines for the coasters generally aren't too bad.

On July 3rd of this year, I arrived at Cedar Point at 6 PM, and I rode 14 coasters before the park closed at 11 PM. The only ones I did not ride were Jr. Gemini ('cause they don't let "big kids" ride it without little kids) and Dragster, because they were still working on repairs.

Dragster will be the biggest wait, assuming it's working that day. It'll be an even bigger wait if it isn't working, since, oddly enough, the lines don't move too well for rides that are closed.

If it looks like Dragster will be open that day, you may want to consider getting in line for it right at 9 AM.

Several of the rides have the FreeWay handstamp program. You're only allowed 2 handstamps per day. I'd recommend getting stamps for Millennium Force and Raptor. There's also a FreeWay stamp for Dragster, but, when I've been there, they've not been distributing stamps for Dragster. If they are, then you may want to get stamped for MF and Dragster instead.

Be aware that Wildcat and Iron Dragon close early for the Cedar Point Summer Spectacular. If you want to get on those, don't wait too long.

Overall, the lines tend to move quite well at Cedar Point, so you should be able to get on all the coasters on a Friday, especially with the 11 PM closing time.

You may even want to consider taking in some shows. Cedar Point's live shows tend to be very good. This year, I've only seen the show at the Red Garter and the Summer Spectacular, both of which were very enjoyable, but I've seen many of their other shows in the past. The show at the Centennial Theatre is usually very good, and Snoopy Rocks On Ice was quite entertaining last year.

I'll cry if Cedar Creek Mine Ride is ever really removed! That's my chiropractor! (Seriously, I've found it marvelously helpful when I have a stiff back. It loosens everything right up, and my back feels great for the rest of the day, or until I ride Mean Streak, whichever comes first.)

If I had to vote for one ride to be replaced, it'd be Dispatch Master Trannnnnnnnnss... DisasssssMassstter Transport... Disaster Transport.

However, in reality, I don't think I'd replace any of them. They all serve a purpose, even if that purpose doesn't fit for everyone.

The Cedar Creek Mine Ride Has Too Much History in the park so ima go With the disaster Transport to vote off even though it does freak me out every time at the near end when the speakers blast "were losing control" three times, i dunno what it is, its pitch black with lights flashing but you have to admit, the first time you rode it you were scared

Personally, I've tried every area of WT (front, middle, back) and I like the front the least- it's not as smooth and the view isn't as good: you're at the highest point on the front spiral and all you can see there is the sky. I much prefer the back where it's smoother and you can see a lot of the park and the beach below you....

I'm not so sure Magic Mountain had a choice. As I understand it, the problems were with structural issues in the trains (i.e. stress fractures). A structural failure could easily lead to multiple fatalities, hence a shutdown really couldn't be avoided until a solution was found, even if that solution meant nightly welding activity.

On the other hand, Dragster's problems have been primarily with the hydraulics. Inconvenient, annoying, but they're located in a concrete building. As a result, it's highly improbable that they would harm the park visitors.

Speaking of Millennium Force, at one point it was voted the best steel coaster in the world, Magnum was 3rd, and the Raptor was 8th.

Based on the 2002 Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today (roughly the amusement park industry's equivalent of an Oscar):

#1 Steel Coaster: Millennium Force with 970 points
#3 Steel Coaster: Magnum XL-200 with 723 points
#12 Steel Coaster: Raptor with 247 points.

Cedar Point was the only park in the world to have 3 coasters in the top 25.

Incidentally, Magic Mountain's highest ranked coaster (Goliath) was tied for 14th with Raging Bull at Great America, each scoring 243 points. X came in 20th with 169 points.

Neither Cedar Point nor Magic Mountain had a Top 25 wood coaster, although Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure (a Cedar Fair park) ranked 2nd. Raven at Holiday World was #1. GhostRider at Knott's Berry Farm (another Cedar Fair park) ranked #6. The highest ranked Six Flags coaster was Texas Giant at SF Over Texas at #8.

For best park, Cedar Point easily came in first with 28% of the vote. Islands of Adventure was a distant second with 18% of the vote, and Knoebels Amusement Resort finished third with 9% of the vote.

I believe a large part of that came from the capacity ranking (fastest moving lines), where Cedar Point was first with 45% of the vote. Second place was Disneyland with 10%, followed by Europa Park with 9%.

Additionally, Cedar Point was 3rd for friendliest park (Holiday World was the overwhelming 1st with 60% of the vote), 2nd for best souveniers, and 1st for best games area.
