View Full Version : Imperial research grants

Imperial research grants seem to be fixed as advertised and are working at 100% efficiency. That is to say, the monies directed by the slider will be allocated to the planets that have the cheapest cost of research points (prefering planets in the "green" first and so on).
I've heard there's supposed tobe a 5% tarrif on the imperial grants but I couldn't spot it unless it is taken out before the cash even gets to the imperial spreadshreet.
Practical upshot? You don't need to ever put any money into research on a planetary basis. You can build research DEAs on planets with no spare cash and the empire will fund them as long as you have a research grant.

Same goes for military. I did some testing and it is also spend the most effecient across planets, not equally like i presumed earlier a while ago. Haven't published the results yet, since i haven't figured out the algorithm exactly yet. I presume research and military grants use the same algorithm.
Oh, and that algorithm is not 100% effective, planetary research spending is a surety. The reason the "expected RP" (the number between parenthesis) is so far off is because of research grants.

And to think of all the time I've spent manually jacking up the research sliders. What is Roy thinking? I've got a planet with 10 research DEAs and he's got research spending at 0%? *sigh*....
It's posts like these that make me realize how much I still have to learn about empire management.

You mean roy doesn't have his virtual head up his arse? :O
Where do I find out if indeed my research planets are getting the grants. The planetary field titled "grants" always seems to be zero. Unluky looking or misplaced attention..

Threads like this one would add so much to that imaginary MoO3 manual we'd all like to get our hands on. Indexed, of course.
