View Full Version : Set Migration stops working?

Odd little thing I keep running into, and I'm wondering if it's a bug, or one of those little unexplained features that seems to litter the game.
Anyway... for no reason that I can determine, planets that I've colonized, that are nowhere near their max population, suddenly have 'Set Migration' disabled, just out of the blue. Not as in, it turns off the migration, but rather that the whole button greys out and it can not be set for that colony. At all times, the colony remains under my empire's control.
It boggles my mind!

there is a limit. it's when you cross some percentage of max pop - maybe related to the yellow/red slider that shows unrest due to overpopulation?
i've only hit it once, on a planet with a max pop of 5. whenever it had about 4 pop (not exactly, and only some values that rounded to 4), the migration button would turn itself off and gray out.
if it's not a pop problem for you, maybe it's unrest (or something)? something that makes it an invalid target for migration??

Shades of Scorpius! (I've always wanted to use that in a discussion) I think you're right, actually. Most of the planets affected are actually pretty close to their maximum population, now that I look again, within maybe 75% of their max pop.
Huh... nice of that to be documented anyplace. ;)
Thanks!

Could it possibly be that veryone else on your other worlds don't want to migrate? If their populations arn't under pressure then they'll be no incentive to move.

true, but that wouldn't disable the button and prevent you from *trying* to get them to migrate. the 'set migration' is supposed to be basically an ad campaign, trying to get everyone to see how wonderful the planet in question is. just the fact that nobody wants to move anywhere shouldn't disallow the ad campaign from continuing on - whereas if the target of the campaign is full or getting close to overcrowding, the planet itself might say 'no more!' :).

edit: i guess what i mean is the difference between the 'source' and the 'destination'. the destination should be able to turn migration off of itself, but the fact that the source is supplying no potential immigrants shouldn't affect any specific destination. (and disabling the button for specific planets but not others implies more control than a source ought to have)
