If you declare war on an empire you have a very positive Cassus Belli with (ie, an empire your people are very fon d of) do you suffer severe unrest repercussions?

I seem to remember this was the original idea - but did it make it into the actual game? Can anyone confirm this?

According to the excerpts from the recent Dev chat, it sounds like they believce it works that way. Thye didn't sound 100%, but pretty close...

I've never seen unrest because of declaring war on an empire that my population 'likes' on the Causus Belli graph. I think this is broken if that's how it is supposed to work. Granted, I almost always play races with the 'absolutist' government series, but I don't think that was supposed to completely suppress your population's reactions.

To me, I have seen some severe unrest due to waging war against an empire that my people want peace with.

If you go to the Victory screen, and on the pull-down select the empire you are currently at war, you can see how your people see the opposing empire. Most of the time it says apathetic, but if it says "demanding peace" or "desire conflict" then I tend to listen to them...just to make unrest a smaller problem...

So I am not sure if it answers your question about unrest with CB and war, but I tend to go by the desire of my people.
