.... something.
In CoT, just after Alviria finds out that she's ousted, Eladia has a backbone and that her mistress is not that great, one of the Red Adjah shows a letter to the new Keeper. This letter changes nothing, but changes everything (according to these two characaters in the scene anyway). They were just talking about the proposed plan to bond the Ash'aman as the Red's warders. So, what would change nothing about the plan, yet still changes everything...... could it be that they know what Rand did???? The letter is from Carihien, so it's not from the Black Tower, yet it could be about the Ash'aman we know that was still there - the one that was with Loial (so there definetly is an Ash'aman there to learn it from).
Thoughts??

The letter is from one of the Reds held by the Ashaman and informs them that the Ashaman have bonded Aes Sedai or that Sadin is free of the taint or both.

My take is that it says the Taint is gone . . .
. . . or at least it would be if I thought for even a moment that one of the TAS would believe an Asha'man when he told her! ;)
The cleansing of the Taint sounds right from that comment, but it would be breaking 3000 years and ten books of tradition for any Aes Sedai to believe an Asha'man. Even the Aes Sedai with Rand aren't certain, and they got to see it happening.

Which is why she only showed it to two other people - 'cause it is a break from tradition, and most people would think she is insane just to contemplate it.

I thought it was that too, but it could just be that the Asha'men have bonded the TAS.

I'm pretty sure the letter says the taint is gone.Wich indeed is shocking for the reds not only to find that all the Asha'man rumors are true but now that the Taint is clean, their purpose has ended. And yet they still feel that the White Tower is the one true authority on the One Power so the reds will still hunt men who can channel to bind them to the White Tower. That's how I see that it will "change everything yet change nothing"

I haven't thought aboit what darklightz wrote, but if Saidin is clean then rhere is no need of the Red Ajah, Why should anyone hunt down channeling men when they won't become insane. And another much more important thing. The man have the right to become Aes Sedai as they once were . Ashaman=Aes Sedai:D

that ain't gonna happen in this series, I don't reckon.
One of the (few) things that came out of CoT was that the Red Ajah have found a new raison d'être, it is to bond the 'unregulated' Asha'man regardless of whether or not the taint is there.;)

I beleive that the note had a much more sinister side....if it was about the taint then the reds wouldnt beleive it, if it was about being bonded then they would be outraged that sisters have been bonded....but you dont get the impression that they were that mad...no I think it was more about a prophecy or order that came down....like a red sitter or sister in the camps gave an order adn they were saying that it changes where they should do something......just an idea:confused:
