Tried to search forum for this one, but didn't find anything .... :(
I have an SMC 7004VWBR router, and I'm playing on two machines on a LAN. The LAN server is not a dedicated server.
When playing from the machine that isn't the server, the player will periodically "freeze" for a few seconds and not be able to move. He can still turn and also fire, but it is like he ran into an "invisible wall". It fixes itself after a few seconds, but it is really annoying.
Similar results happen with other games (such as Star Wars Pod Racer). It also happens whether you are connected wireless or direct. I've upgraded the firmaware (again!), and haven't really had a chance to test the problem since.
Is there something else that I should do? I've thought of minimizing machine connections via the router by connecting them all instead to a switch and then connecting the switch to the router, because I've heard that routers can often be the problem...
Thanks!
P.S. The machines are a P III laptop w/ Geforce 2 go and P4 desktop with Nvidia 4200, both with WinXP Home.
