Mandrake seems to work fine on my system, but there is one big problem that I'm having (other than command lines...)
I have an old SB-PCI64 sound card that linux reconizes and has 2 built in drivers. I've tried both drivers but still have no sound.
Yeah, I checked KMix to make sure it's not muted :D
I tried 3 other cards;
SB-Live
Diamond (not sure what model it was)
and a brand new suround sound card
but still had no sound.
The card sounds great in win98se, so I know it works fine. Any ideas? I have Mandrake on 2 diffrent hard drives & have the same thing on both drives....no sound in Linux, but great sound in win98 :confused: :cry: :bulb:

This isn't the Linux Help Forum here, Jack! Sign up to a Linux forum and you will get a lot more/better responses.

I have....But I thought that some of the wiz-kids here might have a few ideas that have been over looked.
Being open source, most of the help I get in the linux forums is for "super users" and not really for the linux n00b like me.
Would it make you feel better if I said I have no sound for UT on my Linux box and I don't know why ?!?!? :weird:

P.S. How you been doing? I haven't been spending much time here lately. looks like alot of the vets are gone :(

I have been doing pretty good. My monitor blew up today, so I had to borrow a friend's old one that can only display 640*480 16 colors. (not 16-bit, 16 colors total). :(

How have you been?
