I appear to be having very similar problems with my LAN gameplay as merlocka but cannot fix it the same way :weird: : http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=281558&highlight=network

I have a Dell Latitude C640, P4 2GHz
1GB Ram
WinXP
Mobility Radeon 7500C
Latest Unreal Patches

I have the same problem where the game runs at extra high speed when set at 100%. But the game runs fine still with no problems

The problems start  when I try connecting to a LAN server as does with Merlocka. I have about 6 seconds of high speed then 3 seconds of studder. I can still look around and shoot but not move... only studder.

What is strange is that when people playing on the LAN connected to the same server as me, they see me run really fast but obviously shoot me when I start to studder as I cannot move!

I can however host as a server and have everyone connect to me which works fine. However I am at high speed and run around like I've got rockets on my boots and everyone else is quite a bit slower :D . They obviously don't like this as they can never catch up with me!

I've tried everything like turning off my speed step stuff in the power options in Windows XP and even within BIOS but with no change. I have also closed all applications I can running in the backgrond but again this doesn't seem to fix the issue.

Can anyone else suggest anything I can try to sort this irritating problem out?

I had the exact same problem. And this problem only occured on my laptop, and only when my laptop connected to my desktop over a LAN. The problem was that the two were exchanging information too fast between themselves. The character in the laptop would run really fast for a while and then stop and studder as if he hit an invisible wall. This pattern repeated itself nearly every 4 seconds. I solved the problem by adjusting the network speed between the two computers. You can do within UT by going to Tools->System Console, and typing in lanspeed xxxx, where xxxx is a number. By default, a LAN has a netspeed of 20000, and my magic number for getting the character to run smoothly was somewhere inbetween 1500 and 3000. When in the game, press F6 to see the network diagonists.
