I'm having a serious problem with my UT tourny(436). When i first installed it it ran great. During a battle on the internet a wierd thing happened..the sound and pic froze up on me...not completly, but it kinda stutters for about 10 seconds and then runs fine again It did this a couple of times. Ever since then, it does it everytime I play, on or off the internet. I have tried all possible remedys known to me to fix this. I even bought a new computer, and then upgraded the graphics card ( im such a junkie). Has any one else ever had this problem, and if so how did they fix it.
P4 1.5ghz
384 mhz ram
nvidia verto geforce fx 128mb (latest drivers)
winXP
I've tried just about everything, in short of installing the latest patch, it seems that i have lost the cd and it wont let me intall it without that, any suggestion on that problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Vince

2 computer/same problem
What are you doing to it?
Turn your anti aliasing to off along with your anisotropics off in your video card props.
Learn how to tweak ut
Afterall thats only a gf 4 mx with dx9 - it cant do too much.
I think theres a program that automatically tweaks ut maybe somebody will post a link?
or do a google search for ut bible

Go into your UnrealTournament/System folder and open UnrealTournament.ini. In this, you will see two audio sections fairly close to the top. In both of them, it reads Latency=40 change this to read Latency=100

Instead of finding botpack on the cd make it point to where ut is installed
IE C:\UnrealTournament
Or get the no-delta 436 patch from www.3dgamers.com

Ive done all that was posted here...I just downloaded the ut patch and then I changed the latency to equal 100 but I am still having the same problems. Are there any other suggestions, or things that anyone may need to know to find out what is happening?
Thanks,
Vince

xp sucks alot of memory
win 2000 would be better for your setup
Or maybe you should disable all usless xp services
It says how here

Id reccomend that whole tweak for any xp gamer it helps out sooo much
you do have to have a fresh format to do the whole tweak so beware.
(get more ram)
Also if you have any ramboostin proggys running turn them off
that will give you spurts of lag

This is going to sound very simple --maybe you have done it already.
Try defragging your HD. I do this about 3x per week. After doing so, restart your pc. I know you have tried all this other stuff. But, I will tell you that a fragmented HD with UT = BAD play -for me it did anyway. Also, restarting your PC often. I found that some processes that would be opened and later closed would still be eating up memory. For example: My puter with fress boot has 94M of RAM being used. After playing for a week and using other programs (but with everything being the same as fresh install) I have 120 RAM being used. I am not sure how much of a problem this causes, but it's enough for me to defrag and reboot atleast 2x per week.

I'm not quite sure. It occasionally fixes peoples' sound problems.

I just wanted to post here to let everyone know I fixed the problem. After trying almost everything, I pinpointed the problem down to the registry, Im not exactly sure where in the registry the problem was, but after a cleanup and defrag with regclean my problem was fixed. After only about a month :) . I see many other people posting in here and throughout these boards are having similar problems. Someone may want to suggest this fix.
Im back......
thanks all
