Now we all know theres alot of people who go and talk about they're favorite coaster ride.. etc, but at Cedar Point, what is your most hated ride? ... this encludes EVERYTHING in the park, if u had a kiddy ride that tormented you as a little kid and scarred you for life, you can put that down too.

I don't know if your gonna like this but I can't stand TTD. It gets so much publicity, and it takes life from the other coasters in the world. And YES there are other coasters. Maybe not as tall or as fast but there better ones out there. IMO. By the way logic:
2-3 hours line= 15 Sec. ride???? I see something wrong with that picture. But if anybody here likes TTD then more power to you, I'm just saying it bothers me that it so popular. People think that if we didn't have TTD then there would be no coasters. Remember: there were coasters before TTD and there will be ALOT after it.

Just cause I haven't ridden it yet, TTD. I have to agree that 3 hrs waits for such a quick ride is just not right. They should have definetly added more elements to TTD than just blast, up twist, over, down, twist. Perhaps a giant loop would make it more interseting. :p :D

I can see your point about adding more elements, but I have to agree with everyone else who says "I thought that too...until I rode it." It really is quite an experience and I think it's great and complete the way it is. But I don't think it means the other rides are any less important or wonderful. I love TTD but I wouldn't say it's my all around favorite. And you have to admit, when TTD is open, so many people wait in line for it that the lines for other rides are noticeably shorter so you gotta love it for that.
As for least favorite ride, that really is a very tough question...i'm going to say the old-fashioned cars...I used to love them when I was little and wouldn't ride anything but now I think they're loud and smell awful.:weird:

On that note, let me agre... My most hated ride at Cedar Point is TTD. It runs only 35% of the time, and that is GIVING it some credit (as per my experience this weekend). Let me give you a little taste...
This occurred today, Sunday July 27th. It was overall a good day for me coasterwise. I had ridden all of them in a matter of 5 hours. So I was doing good. Then I wanted to ride TTD. Well it was down all day. When, at 4:30 pm we noticed it was testing... so we moseyed on over, caught what was going on... it tested more... this time when ride attendents in it. So we got in the already long line, that was forming to go inside. They then announced that they were going to open it.... YES! The crowds gathered in the station, then they launched a car...
And that was it. After one friggin load of passengers on one train, the ride had already broken back down again. So I have learned to put no faith in this ride. You can give me all that "new-ride" stuff all you want, but when I measure the idea that the ride is 17 seconds, usually a 3 hour wait... and only consist of speed and a big drop, everybody else can stand in line for this- I will go wait for Millenium Force, or any other number of rides....

I just want to clarify...I too am very disappointed by Dragster's record of breaking down. I can understand why it's happening, but it still bugs me sometimes. Yet I don't feel like that should make the absolute worst ride in the park because there's nothing about the actual ride itself that's really bad (in my opinion), it's just the computer problems and such that are bad and those can and will be worked out in time...but then again I know it must have been extremely frustrating for you to wait in line like that, especially since you didn't get to ride. Hopefully you can next time you go, just to have the experience.

I too agree with you guys.TTD is getting to much publicity for such a short ride.I think that they should of add a couple of hills.for some airtime.

Oh no, dont get me wrong.. I did get to ride it Saturday. When it was working, it had a very good capacity. It had a 2.5 hr wait, the quesues were filled... and we got through the line in 45 minutes. Props to the Cedar Point crew that day. However, speed and a big drop do not necessitate a good ride for me. Yes the height and speed are impressive-would I wait over an hour for a 17 second ride once again? Likely not. I see this ride as the equivalent of going up Millenium force hill, dropping down.... and the ride is over. I just dont think TTD is a good ride. To quote IEATPASTE, in a thread that I cannot quite quote directly or remember (I think it was the CP Survivor thread), he once stated Mantis was an uninspired ride. I beg to differ. TTD in my opinion is an uninspired ride.

lol the guy asks u what ur least favorite ride is and all of a sudden it becomes a top thrill dragster convo - it shows how obsessed u all are with it. ok it breaks down and its got stupidly long ques but evrything breaks down and with it being new and something so complex u can expect it. i went to alton towers and had to que for 2 hours to get on air, but its not the first time ive qued for ages. air broke down as we got to the front - it broke down 3 times while we were at the park and yet no1 goes on about that. my point here being that u shud stop being so obsessed with one ride! ive never actually been to cedar point but looking at it id say that the worst ride is frog hopper lol

I think Frog Hopper is cute :D Makes me wish I was 5 years old again so I could ride it :p

I too like frog hopper... but If I worked at CP, I would love to work in the little bumper boat pool next to the frog hopper. To those that have no idea, the bumper boats at CP are for the smaller children, ages 4 and below I think. The ride attendent gets to stay int he H2O all day. Sounds like a great job.
Harpo
07-28-2003, 04:24 PM
It might be nice on some of the really hot days, but those bumper boat folks have to stand in that water on really cold days, too! Also, I suspect their feet would tend to get rather "pruny" from all that time in the water.
If I had to have a "most hated ride," it would be the kiddy rides with the obnoxious horns buzzing "enck enck enck enck enck enck enck enck" all day long. Want to torture a Kiddy Kingdom operator? When they're off-duty, go up behind them and imitate that horn sound. They'll jump 2 feet out of their shoes.

*looks at signature* well then, i think... im... gunna... change... it.... man but u know i did expect this, but at the same time i agree with Biggs TTD has become the heart of the convo in everything here... well... until he mentioned frog hopper.... lol.... thats why i asked "most hated ride" in CP .... i was hopin to get away from the TTD just a smidgent... well i asked the question, and i dont even have a straight answer of what my most hated ride in that park is, its tough, but im gunna have to say that stupid ass train has gotta be the dumbest thing in that entire park, i cant stand it! ridin around ridin around bang bang from the skeletons with the guns ..... /sarcasm on "ooooooooooooh spooky!" /sarcasm off geeze!!!!!!!

It comes down to 2 facts about Top Thrill Dragster:
Most of the time 3 hour long lines.
TTD = Way over rated.

well, i lucked out and rode ttd friday 25th...i liked it a lot, but it wasnt the best ride i had ever been on. i guess u hafta understand that a brand new ride as technical as that wont be perfect right out of the box so-to-speak. a 3 hour wait will surely be cut down quickly once the kinks have been ironed out. ttd never promised to be the bestest bestest ride ever in all it publicity, it just promised to be the tallest and fastest, and a ride experience like no other...which is, well...true.personally i found that the acceleration of the ride was far more impressive than the fact that it was 420 feet in the air. once i was up there i really didnt have and hour to check out the view...i was too busy freaking out! ttd is great. i deofnatly do not recommend anyone waiting all day if its your first time at cp...(it was my first time but we lucked out and only waited 30 min) and if you want to cetcha quick view from a really tall fast coaster semi-similar head over to mm for superman....u at least get a little hang time to look around....plus some weightlessness!

the most hated ride at CP for me has to bethe merry go round, oh and about dragster, I have a really good idea but i dont think it'll work, i say turn dragster into a flying coster shoot it 120mph up the arch and come down spiraling, that would be insane, the only thing i dont like about dragster is it being created so soon, its taking all the publicity away from MF, i wanted to spend a few more years having the MF the biggest ride there, magnum got 11 years why didnt the MF get the Time to be King!?!?!?!?!

And me, I hate mean streak. that ride SUCKS. It's so painful.......especially the lateral G's.
And everyone who hasn't been on TTD can't complain about it yet....I thought it would be stupid to, and that they should have added hills, etc., but then I rode it......it's just so amazing.....the launch is the best part. Right when you see the lights go on.....
anyway, you can't hate the ride untill you've been on it. And at least in my opinion, it's worth the wait....and I did it twice...in 2 days. That's a total of 6 hours waiting for 30 seconds of ride time. But am I complaining? No.

Hate to get a little off topic here, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with Raging Bull when I went to SFGrAm. I found that hypercoaster to be a little lame, not very intense. The seating arrangement was nice, but it wasnt what I expected. But I loved Batman and IronWolf... SUF was enjoyable.... and for some reason, I like El Condor.. But whatever happened to the Space Shuttle that went upside-down (or have I mistaken this ride with some other park). Ok, back to what rides we hate at CP.

ok just a quick question cuz theres people saying the launch is the best part on the dragster (when the post is "Most Hated Ride" i just wanna know who put their arms up? ive done it 6 out of the 7 times i was on it, just currious...

Hmmm, Six Flags buying out Cedar Fair, as quipped in a signature....
Yes, that most certainly would destroy the Cedar Fair parks, pretty much the same way it's destroyed the current Six Flags parks. Of course, with the enormous Six Flags debt, such a buyout would, no doubt, be the last straw spiraling Six Flags into bankruptcy. But, I'm sure Paramount would be pleased.

I wouldn't expect to see his argument either...he seems to have a penchant for making negative comments about things or people or anything but staying suspiciously silent when the time comes to back those comments up with actual proof, logic or reason. I say just enjoy MF because at least we're not too bitter or stubborn to know or admit that it's an awesome ride. :D

My thoughts exactly...If you've ridden it and really don't care for it, then that's your informed opinon and that should be respected. But if you're forming opinions about it based solely upon what it looks like or what you've heard about it, then you can't really have a sound opinion...just ride it and then decide

LOl.. Damn, I must be the only person on this whole damned board who actually likes the ole Mantis and Mean Streak...LOL Anyways, first off, I rethought this.... my least favorite ride at CP is Cedar Creek MineRide. Definitely not TTD-though it is short, it does have speed... and where else can you go 0-120 in 4 seconds.... Besides when you are at the top, it is fun to look left and look way down on Power Tower.... But on a side note, the lights on TTD Dragster tower don't really do much for the ride-The fact the Christmas Tree is working does.
But on a super side note, sorry Paste (Ieat), I didnt even check pvt messages until today, so I never got yours regarding CP last weekend, until today.... However, I am heading back out there this weekend I believe. Are you?

Well, you're not the only one who enjoys Mantis and Mean Streak. While I prefer TTD, MF, Raptor, and Magnum, I feel that Mantis and Mean Streak would be higher-rated if they were in parks that didn't have so many great coasters. I'd still take Mantis and Mean Streak over all but one coaster at Worlds of Annoyance (Knight Flight -- still don't know why Batman is so terrified that he's in a panicked flight, but I guess that's his business.)

Well i might be able to hit the Point this weekend even tho i am going friday, there is always time to hit the point. If we ride down together i have a season parking pass so it is on me!
Ok the reason i don't like Manshee is because it hurts, flat out hurts. Meanstreak i do like, but not all that much. It is fun to ride once a season well once a month :D

Well it is July and it is going to be a record year for attendence(sp?) so yeah everyday will be crowded, until the second week of august.
We should plan for a meet and ride in late august! another forums romp at CP! I will post some stuff in the Cedar Fair thread.
And i still dont like Manshee

But keep in mind, TTD is a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW coaster , and so, for it is intended with all new coasters, it will break down a lot. I mean, look at X, it is still recovering from being a new coaster. Also, who said that it was the best coaster in the world. Just because it is the world's tallest, fastest coaster, doesnt mean it is the best. I think that the Raptor is better than TTD, I mean, ur just getting the wrong image of TTD. Hoestly, we get more comercials of SFWOF than for TTD, so TTD isnt really getting a huge ton of Publicity. Also, yes, there will be bigger, better coasters than TTD in the future, and ur making it sound like TTD has brain washed us of all of the other good coasters in the world, well, it hasnt. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I live in Sandusky, home of CP, so please be nice to CP, or else I wont be happy, because there is a whole bunch of crap that I could use to insult the park chain that ur a fan boy of, but I'm nice, so I dont go saying crap that isnt true about other parks/rides that I havent even ridden or seen in real life.
p.s. when it gets cold up here at CP, the peepes who work the bumper boats either close the ride, or get rubber boots to wear. Also, it isnt fun to stand there in the summer on hot days, because u weanna just drench urself in the water, so I'm told by the peepes that work there.

*stands up and applauds* Well put!!! .... its no fair though u live in sandusky, im here in brook park (20-25 mins from cleveland) *sigh* i have to risk killing myself everytime i spend the day at CP open to close (which is everytime i go!) anyways i love dragster (MF and Mag are still my fav 2), but i was talkin about it the other day, it is kinda cheap how they broke the record, shot up, turn, over the hill twist down over, but ya know, those 2-3 seconds your on that hill, the view is awesome!!!!! and a record is a record!

Thank you Cedar Point89 for the applause. But, I too have to admit, I think that the layout of Dragster could be better. I did see a rough sketch that Intamin released to the public on one of the original ideas for what the layout should look like. It basically looked like Xcelerator, but taller and faster. But, your right Cedar Point89, the view from the top is really nice.
