How do I get on the Chat channels

I can't connect to IRC.
I hit Logon
It says connecting
It says Disconnected.
I haven't played the game in like a year so maybe I don't know about something.

only the UTchat is down...

irc.progameplayer.com and enterthegame.com and others are still up and running. Which can both be accessed through UT Chat.
