with aline i cant start the lightning machine and get to the cannon to blow up the wall to get to the two items im stuck in the fort thelast part in the fort im know trying to get to the gate where carby and ednshaw are to do the ritual.

OK... first things first: You asked before about a blue glimmer near some crates to the left of a strange machine. You didn't say which room this was in but I'm guessing you meant in the workshop. Does the screen capture below show what you were referring to?

If it does, then forget it – it's a 'phantom'. I think it may be the glimmer that shows the light switch, but somehow it's being displayed in the wrong place. Anyway, you can't get it, and it makes no difference to the game.

As for what you are to do, I'm not sure how far you've got. Have you FULLY assembled the perforator yet? There's no point in trying to start the lightning machine if you haven't.

Because I don't know exactly what point you've reached it's probably easier if you look at the Hints and Solutions thread I've put on the Alone in the Dark UK forum.
