We'll im trying to get clan-y2k.tk with L and Q at the moment, people are more than welcome to chat about anything and everthing around beta tests, help, atari or whatever as long as they don't use faul language.

I think thats more effective

Atari should have an online chat that's accesable on the internet. It should be passworded for only Beta Testers so that they dont have any random people appearing on it. Chat is a good idea and I think it will make communicating with other Beta Testers.

Idd but a channel on mIRC can also have a pass on it we can have a free channel and a beta only channel with pass !!

I can make a channel @ irc.gamesnet.net

Yeah I suppose. It would be good. Especially for the indivaidual Beta Tests so that the Testers can discuss things.

Ive allready said about a chat room to Mike, (Atari guy). And he thinks it is a good idea so we will have to wait and see.

He'll probally have one up and running soon.

A chat room would mean they would have to have extra staff to monitor it, unless they asked members of the community who they trust to help watch over it.

I Like the idea of placing trusted testers in charge of the Chat channels. As any company gets, when the Christmas rush starts (now until the end of Nov) we might not be as accessible as you would like.

I also like to give some people visibility and responcibility if they are willing to take it and run with it.

Let me look into this idea this week and see what I can sort out. If things work out and people are interested in moderating chat channels for us, I will provid a place for interested parties to submit a request.

Thanks

I'm sure lots of people would be willing to help. If we're going to be testers, we should be willing to help the whole entire team too. With a company as large as Atari, it's bound to get busy at some point. I'd be willing to help a hand, and I'm sure others would too.

 well i think it was taking a bit long so I regged 2 channels on irc.gamesnet.net 1 #atari , 2 #atari-members (members only - Pass needed)...

Im not the owner but a coowner gamesnet is owner because its not legal to own a trademark name like atari.

Ill hope u come in and idle there , Ill hope it will work out ..

go to the connect area and search Gamesnet then enter nick etc.
then put in main window, /msg authserv@services.gamesnet.net register (userName) (pass)

then go to options and put in preform to all networks
/msg authserv@services.gamesnet.net auth (user) (pass)

Done
and put in preform /j #atari and /j #atari-members

A zip file for help http://ll.iglobal.be/Plaatjes/mIRCatAtari.zip
And mIRC http://ll.iglobal.be/Plaatjes/MIRC.zip
Hope this is it ...

Thanks for doing this Denise. We'll have to say what Gilly says, as it's not an official chat and unmodderated by betatests.net staff, but it's a good place to start getting together for now :)

They wouldnt need someone extra to monitor an IRC chat. There are chatbots they could use, plus mIRC has an option to log IRC channels, and there are mIRC scripts out there that have reconnect options

With something like a beta, they'd probably like to monitor what is going on. Just like in these forums, they need to make sure beta testers don't disclose something they're not supposed to. A bot can't tell if a user is giving NDA protected data out to the public, and chat logs aren't going to stop what had happend 12 hours ago.
