Am I just unlucky?

Hey, sup all,

Anyways straight to the point, I have only recently joined these forums but I have been a BT for a LONG time, not sure how long, but I think scince I registered NWN and got a link to the site.

Anyways I'm signed up for just about every game (except trivial pursuit and Risk) and everytime something new comes i will almost always sign up for it, and I still haven't gotten to BT one game. Anyways I told my friend about this and he said it sounded good, I told him not to get his hopes up, the next day he says he singed up for 1 game, horizons, 8 days later he gets a confirmation email.

Am I unlucky? Is he Lucky? Does anyone have similar experiences???

Similar experience yes. I like to pride myself in that I continue to "beta" massive multiplayer games that went gold, in a sense of the world. While I am waiting, sometimes dying, patiently to get into the Horizons beta, I understand that patience is a virtue.

While Atari's selection process is enigmatic, it works in the long run, as many games of theirs have been a great success. Remain calm and patient, it helps deal with Pending-Trauma :)

Both. For Horizons, it's basically a random pool. He got in maybe because his specs are what they're looking for, or perhaps because he was chosen randomly and you were not.

Lol...now I have mixed feelings...I signed up recently for the Beta but I haven't been waiting nearly as long as some of you. I still hope I get accepted, but it woouldn't seem entirely fair...

Oh well...I'm getting the game anyway, and if I don't get accepted, hopefully those of you who have been waiting and waiting will. You deserve it.

When you filled out your request you forgot to add in some ass kissing like
"Oh yeah and the 2600 is still the best console video game system ever made, no doubt!!"
and you also forgot the part where you say
"Here's 20 bucks. No pressure, not like this is a bribe, but :winkwink: would sure like to BT this product"
Your friend obviously remember those crucial parts. :haha: :p

For the record, mine has been pending for Horizons for about a month. I'm not really concerned. Just gotta be patient and if I miss out on BT well, I can always just buy it when it comes out. :up:

I wouldn't hold out hope just yet. They're likely adding more beta testers every day to test both technical and server load aspects. So in all terms of fairness, if it's random, it's naturally fair :).

Glad to hear you're also getting the game. I'll be glad to play along-side ya when it goes gold. :)

Except that this Atari is really Infograms, has no connection with the 2600, and the Atari that actually made the 2600 went out of business earlier this year ;)

i remember when that had that little form on the website, where you submited all your beta testing info there. i signed up for it back then. RL pulled be away from my computer for a few months, i return to this lovely new beta testing set up. My on-line companions and i talk constantly of this games release, and 5 of them already in BTing. i fear my lack of a bt account might be because my proccessor is too old, but with an upgrad ein my near future, i hope to be in the specs that they are looking for in their BT.
But i do plan on buying it when it is released.

i dont think your sys specs , unless they are REALLY outdated, are going to be a huge factor as they have to appeal to a universal community of computers not just the latest and the greatest. that would limit there market ...ill be honest i really dont care what game i test. its all good fun and i have plenty of games i play now to keep me occupied while i wait:D

i AM relieved that just cuz my specs are outdated, my chance may still be just as good any everyone elses.

Nice to see some replies from people in the same prediciment. I have a 3.06 ghz cpu with a gf4 ti4200, and a bunch of other nice crap so i didn't think specs would be a problem. But it looks as if I'm not the only one whos been waiting for ages, which takes the sting off it kinda.
