If you have WINXP, don't bother getting it!

For its time IG2 wasn't that bad. When I got it I was totally thrilled with the game. It was only when I was looking for intelligence in the plots did IG2 stocks go chapter 11. At the advice of a friend, I am playing using only the skirmish mode and IG2 has a whole new life to it. You can play ANY race but have not a single story line to add to (or take away) from the main focus of blowing the heck out of everyone. Having 8 races with 500000 credits in a 20 planet universe is just cool! Why? Wars all over da place and utter (mooo!) chaos/ Puck diplomacy and bad manners, if they don’t go, you will! I'm sure the mindless battles will get to me and I'll go back to playing Ascendancy, but for now IG2 is still playable. Now if someone would just help me with HOT KEYS. Like the ones to blow up buildings?

Time out! Imperium Galactica 1 and 2 were developed by Digital Reality and originally published by GT Interactive. In other words, these games were GT not ATARI or Infogrames. Infogrames bought out GT because GT.....<drum rolls> bought out Atari.
The reason why I told you not to buy if you're on WinXP is because IG2 does not play well in NT based WIndows, not because of Atari.
I'd agree that I hate Atari after what happened to ETM:down: !

All I can sy still is that I have XP and Ig2 runs perfectly just like it did on my 95, 98 and Me after setting the compatibility tab to 98-Me. Sounds works perfectly, no skipping animation or anything. All the reason I'm saying this is because (Karthik) from your post one might think IG2 would never run on an XP machine.

Are you using the highest setting for the cutscenes and 44khz for sound in XP?!
I've seen some people post that it's nearly impossible to run it XP. I'm just worried that Born would go through the same fate and curse us for wasting his money on something that can't run smoothly!

Yeah, best cutseen resolution, best audio frequency, and even 1600x1200x32 bit rendering. And runs smooth, no texture flickering, no cutscene skipping or anything like that. Just has the compatibility mode set. Yeah, I realize that there are people posting that they can't run it under XP but nobody is going to start a thread with "I can run my game under XP" only the those will complain who can't run. I'm not saying that it runs for sure, cuz probably the game has compatibility issues with XP but it's not clear that it won't run, that's all I'm saying.
