Well, IG2 we know as well, as you might find some threads here about it, or probably already did after posting. I would certainly suggest IG1 as well, it's a must have classic. It's pretty hard to get it to run on a new PC though, but manageable.

Well, I like Star Trek: Armada due to its graphics, but dislike the Armada II since the species are just too similar. I do not know whether StarCraft counts as a space game.

Not really Space, but Galactic. ;)

IMHO Conquest Frontier Wars is best RTS ever :)

No, that distinction goes to Total Annihilation but CFW is right up there & is probably the best space RTS :)
The game formerly known as Imperium Galactica 3 and later Galaxy Andromeda, cancelled for several months but now rejuvenated with the new title Nexus will be quite possibly the best space RTS ever  (see IG3 ressurrected thread ;) )
Startrek: Armada is fairly good & there are/were some really excellent mods for it :D
I never quite managed to get into Haegemonia properly because I was largely unimpressed.

But you really should! After the first episode it kinda sucks you in, despite the fact that it is nothing like the Imperium Galactica sequel.

That's like expecting Daikatana 2!

Fragile Alliegence and its Amiga predecessor K-240 are great real time games - both of which I stopped playing after I saw that AWESOME intro to the first Imperium Galactica ;)

That's like expecting Daikatana 2! Thats true.
I have generally been trying to be relatively circumspect about the prospects for it to actually get finished... I guess I just slipped.
IF it comes out it should be great :)

Fragile Alliegence, I wanted this game so badly but I couldn't find anywhere until recently. I never knew that it had a prequel though!

Yup !
And K-240 was a sequel to a game called Utopia !
They were all made by a company called Gremlin.
Utopia and K-240 were Amiga legends - Fragile was basically a PC remake and identical to K-240 - even the ship names and hardpoints are the same.
When the Fragile intro mentions how the federation replaced the empire ( .. "in conditions more hazadous than faced by todays miners.. full scale war") Its referring to the events of K-240 !!

When did k-420 and Utopia come out?!

Long Long ago ! over ten years - here are some reviews if you are interested. I think Utopia came out in 1992 and K-240 in 1994.

Does it have interaction like in Ig1?! Like you to a bar to talk to people or something like that?!

Nope, you are not character like Dante - you are the overseer of your planet (Utopia) or the Asteroids (K-240) Fragile Alliegence is the only one that offers diplomacy.
Get both games though - buy an amiga !

I can barely find a MAC here, and you want me to get an Amiga?!:weird:
Speaking of Amiga, is it true that Amiga had alot of fighting games for it? Like Capital Punishment?

Oh yes - the Amiga was the ultimate gaming platform in its day. there were loads of fighting games like Body Blows and Mortal Kombat - I was more into strategy though !
LOL no access to an Amiga eh ???
Well at least you are not exposed to MAC users like I am :)

In 1995 a beautiful space empire building game came out, with 21 races, by a very small but classy company called THE LOGIC FACTORY. It was a dos game, but also playable in a win95 window.
I have since played IG 2, but found it boring after a while, and came to these forums because MOO3 kept crashing.
Amazingly, many of the elements of Ascendancy were aesthetically and intuitively better than MOO3, some eight years earlier - e.g. a 3D tech tree and planet surface graphics which reminded me of Utopia mentioned above, which I've also played, plus ship factory graphics, great music and module names like 'lush growth bomb' for a terraformer. It was just a great game. After buying MOO3 and being disappointed, I searched and found the Logic factory are still around, have developed a new 3D engine called HYDRA, which they are using as the basis for Ascendancy II. They work with no time constraints as a small team to produce the game that They want to play. You heard it here first....

These two links show it off to better advantage...

The above mentioned high average user rating, plus some descriptions...
And the shape of things to come....
http://www.logicfactory.com/dev_main.htm
They are also decent guys.. when I bought their only other game - Tone Rebellion - really beautiful but off the hook - way OUT there, man - I emailed them because the manual was missing from the retail box in the UK and they mailed me one from North America.
I wonder if anyone else has their HYDRA engine in game development? (see above logicfactory link)

Oh, Ascendancy is great :)
I found that logic factory site a fair while back & I even found some test screens from the Hydra engine at one point & they weren't pretty :(
This is not to say that it hasn't improved because I would hope it has over a few years...
I'm intrigued that they're planning to make Ascendancy 2 a massively multiplayer persistent universe game!? If they do it well, then it'll kick moo3 & galactic civilisation into the dimly remembered past.

Technically yes!

After reinstalling, patching, validating etc., still had 6 DXSU crashes over two turns in Masters of Orion 3, so I would NOT suggest it. Decided to call it a day, have returned my copy of MOO3 to 'GAME' for a refund and bought Haegemonia collectors edition. Only problem with that seems to be that it is level based while I prefer freeform strategic gaming. While waiting for Ascendancy II, I would try this, Galactic Civilisations and The ORB. Haegemonia is by the same people who coded Imperium Galactica II, but they have a different publisher... I will think more than twice before buying an ATARI game again.
R.
good gaming!
