Imperium Galactica 3 Resurrected
Reported by: David Laprad

Imperium Galactica 3 is back on track thanks to a worldwide rights deal with Amsterdam-based HD Interactive. The real time mission-based tactical space game for the PC also has a new title: Nexus. Budapest-based Mithis Games is developing Nexus for a global release in September 2004."

No more words!

We all have Haegemonia and Haegemonia: Solon heritage hehe
but IG3 isn't the same. You should try to find the Demo of IG3. There is much more tactic in the Spacebattle

Galaxy Andromeda reborn as Nexus

Dutch publisher salvages Mithis Games' sci-fi strategy title from development oblivion.

When a debt-burdened CDV jettisoned Galaxy Andromeda earlier this year, it looked like Mithis' sci-fi strategy game was lost in space. But Amsterdam-based publisher HD Interactive announced today it will publish the game under a new name--Nexus. "Nexus is a true gamers’ game," said HD managing director Mike Klumper in a statement, "I was amazed by what I saw of the early code of Nexus. I was blown away by it and we are extremely proud to add this beautiful title to our portfolio."

Nexus was originally scheduled for release in 2001, back when it was called Imperium Galactica III and was being developed by Philos Laboratories. Despite the corporate shifting, release delays, and title changes, the game remains largely the same 3-D RTS. GameSpot's E3 2003 preview offers details on Nexus' gameplay and scenario, and a demo of Imperium Galactica III is also available.

I just love it, it's totally different than anything else out there. They should really keep the interface. It's so original. It's a shame it couldn't get to stores like a year ago.

I actually loved the demo. I loved Hegemonia but this is more my type of game. Tactical space combat. Can't wait. Now if somebody would only make a game like this with the freedom of the X-games. i would be in heaven.

Karthik, the game actually has never been dead, Philos and Mithis were carrying it through all the time, it was only the prublishers that changed. It will eventually come out, that's for sure, I believe to know the developers from all their interveiws. It's only a matter of time.

I think perhaps that I understand where Karthik is coming from better than you lot (eh Karthik? ;) )

I think this is great news, but until I start seeing some major progress, I'm taking it with a shovel full of salt.

I'd like to point out that I and at least one other person have actually recieved emails back from HD which are a good start indeed :)
CDV had a tendency to either ignore emails or just send everyone an information lite auto reply.

Yeah? What did they say?
I'm just downloading the E3 trailer. Can't wait to see.

E3 trailer ain't anything special.

What you want is the ~100mb IG3 demo that was released for the Matrox Parhelia.
It works very well on any card with hardware T&L.
Best on GF4.
Sadly the shadows don't work on r300 based cards :(
You can find it at 3dgamers.com, though under which name I don't know...

They said more or less:

The new name was a collaboration with Mithis & evidently is associated with the plot

The guy agreed with me that not only should games have a decent manual, but a game like Nexus "should have an extensive one"

The Nexus website will be up in the beginning of 2004 and, of course, there will be screens and news every week. Stay tuned :-)

Yeah, I had the demo for the last two years, it rocks, but the anim shows new ships. That rocks too. I was hoping to see a nexus site in the short upcoming. That's good news.

Yep, by the way, is the scifi writer still attached to the project or are they revamping the the story?

Gregorius
11-29-2003, 12:57 PM
I guess so. I think the story was ready way before the game was getting to look like this.

Karthik

AFAIK, the first story was about regaining earth like in Reunion!

Gregorius

What I heard is that since the game is under development, the best Hungarian sci-fi novel writer is working with the guys on the story, and wouldn't say anything about it yet.

He was working on it, in fact he came by the English forums and answered some of our messages.

Gamespot state it is schedule in Oct. I hope it make it out this time.

Looks and feel like Universal Combat from 3000AD.
Did you see the fighter squads that are attached to the carriers on the right side of the screen. mmm. In universal combat, each carrier can only carry 4 to 8 fighters and it is already big fun.

There is a big story change as the orginal story sound too much like homeworld.

HD wanted a fresher story, but now it sound like ORD.

I guess noone is perfect, moreover nexus selling point is not the story but it's beautiful space battle.

edit: correct short ---> story.

Why don't you try the one on the official website of the game: Official homepage of Nexus: The Jupiter Incident (http://www.nexusthegame.com) ? Don't tell me you haven't heard of it! (Gregorius' Corner (http://gregorius.fw.hu) )

That's why I said most people. :D Anyway it's not your fault, the main thing is that now you have it, and maybe because of this reason the forum is not saturated, so I can keep track with a slow ISDN connection as well. ;)

I can't believe my eyes. This game is actually going to be released? I haven't been to these forums for a long time, but this series was always one of my favorites! I am glad they are going to release it to us. I am one who disappointingly wasn't able to get "The Solon Herritage", because I live in America. I still don't understand why it wasn't shipped here in the States. Thanks for the post. I'll be looking for this game and I am very excited about this news!!!

Gregorius
07-06-2004, 01:51 PM
It was to be a proper expansion to The Legions of Iron, but happened to turn out to be only a multiplayer expansion due to publisher affairs. I wasn't aware of though that it didn't ship to overseas.

07-06-2004, 08:53 PM
For what its worth, the publishers have been made aware of the issue of it being hard to find the forum link & are getting it changed :D

I thought in the US there's parrel importers. Shops which deal with importing games from different region!

slingbld
07-07-2004, 12:56 PM
They are not too common. At least not brick & mortar stores. Most of the Import games are found online, not in your local software specialty/gaming shop. Much to my disapointment :(

Nexus is a tactical, small-fleet-based space combat sim, resembling the Starfleet Command series far more than a fast-paced shooter-sim like Freelancer or even X2.

Well, this doesn't sound like Imperium Galactica 1 or 2 to me. I liked the old Imperium games, and I think I played Freelancer and got sick, because it was hard to know which way was up. I liked Homeworld and Hegmonia and they way they played and the stories they brought. Too bad they can't combine the two and make them into one great and fun conquesting game.

I was not amused by Hegemonia. Perhaps I was missing something. It seemed difficult to control and give orders, and I spent a lot of time waiting for things to happen.

IG2 is one of my favorite games of all time. And to think, I randomly decided to spend my last 40 bucks on it 2 years ago instead of paying 1/8th of my rent with it. :noob:

The old IG3 Demo was cool, but it hasn't changed very much in Nexus. I don't know exactly what, but there is something missing in Nexus.

It also don't run at the moment, cause I have deamontools and Nero 6 installed :(

So I play IG2 again hehe

Gregorius
01-04-2005, 11:16 AM
Well, if it is not running then there is certainly something missing. :D
