can´t create char

got a little problem:

When I want to create a new character, I push the "new charater" button and then the "create" button.

The site is:
https://horizons.istaria.com/horizons/characters/addcharacter.aspx

Then the following message comes and nothing happens:

An error occured processing your request (Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.). Please contact technical support.

I use the mozilla with all needed plug-ins.
I also tried the IE, but got the same problem, too.

Its not ur browser. Its the wrong site. Thats for the US beta testers. I had the same problem as u this morning. U need to head Here (https://horizons.eu.istaria.com/horizons/default.aspx) and resign up, CD-Key and all. It SHOULD work then (i havent fully downloaded the Cd images, and u need the game installed to create a character)
EDIT** OF course, thats IF ur a EU tester like urs truly

also you must check the box next to the server you want to create your char on... if you dont see a box check back in 2 hours cause then its down for maintenance/upgrading (i had the same prob first time around :) its okay)

I had the same problem as Aeneas Aurelias, then, like Fallen_Angel said - I went to the EU one (silly me!) - which did the trick.

Only now, instead of the first error message mentioned, I get this instead:


"An error occured processing your request (The log file for database 'sapphirehorizons' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space. The 'hsp_CreateCharacter' procedure attempted to return a status of NULL, which is not allowed. A status of 0 will be returned instead.). Please contact technical support."

Looking at the message, is this just because the server is full? Or too many people are trying to get on? There's no EU tech support page at the moment! :weird:

The problem I posted about cleared up by itself, so all it needed was some patience.

I patched up, ran the game, got into character creation - picked what I want, chose my name and it verified it...

... but it just sits there on:

"Character Name Accepted.
Creating Player..."

Just gets stuck there. The game's running, nothing has frozen up, it's just not progressing. :eek:

Anyone have any problems with this?

Going off topic, im not so up to date on the EU beta. Any idea when its gonna end? i know tis the 19th Dec for the US one, but i havent seen an end date for EU. Oh and Aeneas, most games developers would have to say no.

Well,
I went to the EU login site - everything was fine so far,
but now?
Have a problem again:
After checking the box for the server and clicking the "create" button, I get the "Start Horizon" button, but can´t click to it.
Should I be able to start the game without the browser, cause this doesen´t work. (tried to open the Horizon.exe)

I feel like stupid, but don´t know what to do?

it needs an activex object in order to run the game (and it's updater). Make sure you have activex objects enabled in your browser security settings.

but all plugins are installed nd active - even activeX.

When you say you can't click on it, does it give an error or a 'beep' when you try to? Perhaps the update window is behind the browser window. Also, try selecting the 'full scan' option instead of the first one.

Best bet - leave the page for a minute
i thought it had done once i got to there, but after about 2-3 minutes the updater popped up

It was the problem of my browser.
It just seems, that Horizon doesen´t
work with Mozilla or Firebird - even if
all plugins and applets are installed.
Tried it today with the Explorer and ...
it works :eek:

Ah, yea forgot to mention that, u MUST use IE to access the site, and i think its gotta be Version 6 at that, cos of the 128-bit encripting there using.

My browser uses 128-but encryption, but the server doesn't response. I've tried it with Mozilla and it's says "connection timeout". The IE just say that the page can not be displayed. :(

I've tried https://horizons.eu.istaria.com/horizons/default.aspx, but it doesn't work for me. :(

Any ideas?

Ok, bit of a warning to all, looks like the internet is a bit fubared. Basically our straight link to the US, 2 Tat-14 lines, have both broke. So now everythings gotta be routed another way, and this is causing pages to time out. This is not just a horizons problem, its a problem for anyone in the UK trying to access US sites, AND if ur using Pipex, they lost the link to their N. London server, so even UK sites r hit and miss at the mo. Bill Gates worse nightmare has just occured :D

Official shipping date is still Dec 9th - or is there an officially commented news update? :confused:

Sorry my bad, it is the 9th. And i found out the UK release is the 5th ATM, it may be put back, some of the retailers have updated their release dates and its the 12th iirc
