Hey there! I'm very new to IG2 and I'm just starting my first game as Shinari. Although I've been through the tutorials, I'm a bit confused about the colony making bit. I have two planets (the default ones) and I'm having a problem on one of them with -ive numbers of people/citizens. I've lowered my taxes to LOW to see if that will help and it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference.

I built a LARGE HOUSE as I thought that that might bring people into the city but it seemed to go down by another -6000 people. I presumed that building a house doesn't require workers as such, but would increase population. Is this right?

Am I doing anything wrong? Any advice would be helpful.

Does anyone know of any good FAQs or strategy guides that can be downloaded from 'somewhere'?

the growing of the population depends on their moral. The higher the moral, the higher the grow rate
So you have to build what they want. When you click on the colonie, you will see in the bottum left a picture of the colonies, and in red letters what they need.

But yiou also could just open the colony menu and set the colonie to "civil" and let it build its own building. But you need enough money and enough technologie, so they can build what they need

Yeah, I'm doing most of that at the moment. I have enough money and it's auto building to CIVIL with their morale to GOOD. It's just odd that when I build a house, the number of people needed goes down. Perhaps I should just try again from the start. *shrug*

Never use AUTO-BUILD in the beginning of the game. Thta function is there for you if you have too many colonies to manage by yourself. Auto-build never builds what you want. (F.e.: You want to increase the moral and you want to build something that would raise it, you are waiting for your money to flow in, but when auto-builds finds enough money to build a park, that in one way will raise moral but will do nothing else, it would build it. You had lost your money and had not benefited.) Use auto-build when you cannot spend your money because it's coming at such a high rate. :D

Wow, that's a different approach to most things I've read but it's worth a try.

Well, that's what works for me and a couple of people I know who play the game. Auto-build always consumes the money you are collecting to build something important that helps you on the way. It is best to keep everything under control. ;)

Yeah, that makes sense. :)
