Well, even though its a bit too late for some ideas that aren't already in D3 to be put in D3, I thought I'd aptly name this thread Future Driver games, so if they don't get around to adding it this time, maybe in Driver 4, or 5. So, add your ideas

•Well, seeing as how this game has cars in it, one thing I've always wanted to do is upgrade the cars, it would work like this: take the car to a garage, park it inside, then go into the store and buy the parts, and they're installed on the car, and when you leave it could be a few hours later, depending on how many parts you added.
•Area sensitive damage (working name): Have you ever been in a car chase on older driver games with nearly full damage and then the cop just comes up and taps your trunk, a part that has nothing to do with the working of the vehicle, and it kills you car? It happens to me all the time, what I would do is only make key areas of the car that get damaged, add damage to the meter, such as the engine, tires, driveshaft (well, with tires knocked off or the driveshaft bent, you simply can't drive, not that it sets your car on fire).
•On Driver and Stuntman, whenever your car got full damage, it put the handbrake on for some reason, why would it do that? Do real cars actually do that? If so, it can be left on. Also, if it was gameover a lot of times the final crash would be cut off by the menu popping up, I want the game to wait for my car to come to a rest before cutting off my crash.
•Fire should spread throughout the car, but more slowly than The Getaway.
•Construction vehicles should be fully operatable, meaning you can control the arms and the claws and shovels, so you can pick up cars and throw them.

Well, I think I made a few of those longer than they have to be, I'll add more later, cause I'm tired of typing now.

I agree the most with the area sensitive damage, it shouldn't kill your car and set it on fire when the cop hits the trunk.

I wish a steering will be compatible with the game =)

Like the xbox and ps2 steering wheels? I believe those are compatible. Not sure about pc, but with the pc i know that cotrollers worked ok on the last two.

ohhh they had the idea to do gas station in Driver 2 ! But we can't use it ! There's always enough gas in the cars =(

Well, if Reflections is trying to hint at game features with their pics, then in the one pic of the 2CV at the gas station, could mean we have to, or we can if we want to (meaning theres infinite gas in cars) fill 'er up.

Throw them? You think it's possible to throw a car using a backhoe? Uh, no. The arms on those things can't move quick enough to 'throw' a tonne-plus car, let alone move quick enough with enough velocity to move it very far. Simple physics. I don't want to rain on your parade, but there's really no need for a massive trebuchet capable of hurling cars, in a game about an undercover cop.

Plus, if you ever want to see this game, it's best to avoid over-complicating things. Like your damage thinger. You have to sacrifice some realism in order to ever get it finished; these things aren't easy to program. :)

I was talking about a crane, not a back hoe.

nice, was the seperation between back and hoe intentional, if it was there should be a comma between words and you should check the spelling of "hoe". don't worry i'm just kidding.

LOL, well, it was intentional but I wasn't calling him a hoe, I just don't feel lke hyphenating stuff.

Anyway, since you said it yourself Merlin, "You have to sacrifice some realism," I don't see why we can't have a crane that throws stuff, its more fun than a crane that drops stuff. Even though that'd be fun to drop on cars.

yah i agree it would be kinda fun to throw cars (MORE fire, and everyones happy)except the people that want it to be a complete simulation.

Yeah, I used to want a complete simulation, but look what its done to games like GT (besides the graphics). I've realised over the past year or so that realism isn't all that fun, and besides, its not real, its a videogame. If you want it to be that real, go do it. There are some things I of course like being real, like car physics so you know whats going to happen and can counter-act it (unlike GTA where going around a corner can result in who knows what), damage, graphics. Lets hope D3 is a perfect mix of realism and arcade.

I'm hoping your health will naturally come back slowly over time, but that you can also get little things like the hearts in GTA or Mario (was that Mario, I can't remember). I don't want to lean up against a wall.

Also, they said they've changed a few things, like making the collisions more elastic so its more entertaining than real life where its all obsorbed. I hope they know what they're doing, I hope the cars still dent as much as real life and then bounce off eachother. I doubt it though. If you watch the October trailer, when the Mustang hits the taxi there doesn't appear to be almost any damage done to the Mustang. Well, maybe its that way so cars last longer than in TG (the getaway).

You like badmouthing GTA don't you? What's the deal?

The fact remains, the GTA series has been intense fun. So occasionally you get a graphical glitch or a car rolls too easily. Who cares, when it's such a blast to play? Let's just hope Driver 3 can regain the fun element from the first game. :)

Thats what I do :D. But I like GTA, I just wish it had better car physics, the cars are way too light and, well, its driving section could never live up to Drivers.

Well, even though I didn't really like the name change, I guess I'll get used to it, Driv3r, actually, I'm guessing its supposed to be written in all caps, DRIV3R. I just hope on the box the 3 isn't yellow. But it doesn't affect gameplay, just makes it look a bit cheezy.

In D3, I would like to be able to:

drive 18-wheelers,
police bikes,
go inside malls and shoot everywhere,
use a load of weapons.

I think that they should give us a little more along the lines of customizing our computers with icons, wallpapers and certain goodies. Cause it isn't right to just leave us hanging not giving us anything. I mean it is completely awesome that they hide the specifics of the game. they just need to give us some goodies to tide us over. Also I think they should keep it up with the voice acting that is awesome.

Hey, since theres an article that said you could email your replays to people, I think the film director should also let you take screenshots, to make it easier that whatever the method is, so I can put pics of my replays online (since the movie files will be too big)

I think that there should be a GameBoy Advance game apart from what they have been doing, (make a game then send it to GBA) with a completely new storyline and sprites and everything. Sort of like a completely new adventure following Tanner.
