I'm installing NWN Gold for the first time & it hangs just after I anter the CD keys.
The progress bar comes up & it hangs at 0%.
If I kill the process, it comes up with a message box saying the RPC failed.
I have tried 2 different CD drives with the same result. Both drives otherwise work.
I'm usung XP Pro SP1.
I also tried turning off Norton firewall & antivirus. Same result.

Any ideas?
This PC is only a month old & I've had no other problems so far...

I have the exact same problem as Mr. B with one wrinkle. I HAVE had NWN installed on THIS computer before. I wiped the drive to clean it up and now when I try to reinstall the game, same problem as Mr B. Same OS.

Anyone reading these forums?

Lotsa questions, few answers :bulb:

On another site, I found reference to our problem. They had some crummy cheap Anti-Virus running and when they disabled it, NWN installed as advertiesd.

I had Norton and when I disbled it... I'm installing as we speak <knocks on wood>
:D

How did you disable it?
I did the right-click/disable thing, but it made no difference.
Maybe I should uninstall it for a brief time & retry.

Mr.B

I just right-clicked on the system tray icon and selected disable (I did this as soon as the puter booted up, after everything loaded and before doing anything else).

If that doesn't work for ya. You might try right-clicking on the system tray icon and select Configure Norton AntiVirus. Clear all three check-boxes and restart your system. NAV won't load and you should be able to get through the install.

Then just relaunch NAV from the Program Files and re-check the three options on Configure and you're back in bidness :D

If this doesn't work for ya, last ditch might be to uninstall NAV. But you shouldn't have to.
