I installed the latest exopansion of NWN, Hordes of the Underdark. Everything went fine, no problems duríng the installation, but as soon as i reached a small passage in level 2 undermountain, the game always crashed. I tried all possible combinations of graphic details and / or screen solution, even deactivated the sound card, but the crash remained.
After updating all drivers, and seeing the problems still remaining, i started a new character and played from the beginning. As soon as i reached undermountain again, i had that crash now at the loading screen to level 1 south. (i skipped that one before).
Installing the latest patch didnt solved the problem either.
Any ideas that might help with that?
My sytem is Windows XP, 512 MB Ram, AMD Athlon 2200+, GeForce 4 Ti 4200, Soundblaster Audigy 2 (all with latest drivers i found)

áfter playing a while in other areas i found two specific crash bugs
one is mostly hardeware related, so on some extreme intense fights, the game just quits to windows desktop suddenly
second is some part of loading level crash bug, were the game quits just before tha last quarter of the loading is complete, found that now on two places: all ways (including teleporters)to Underdark level 1 south (chapter 1) and the door to cult tower level 3 in chapter 2
anything those have in common? if yes, there is the bug that crashes my game all the time

try updating the IDE controller on the system.. if it crashing during loading that could also be a corrupted game file. Only a CLEAN install of the game would fix that..meaning you would need to uninstall it...then DELETE the left over Neverwinter folder. CLear your Temp directories then reinstall it.
Hit Start, then Run.
Type Cleanmgr.
Hit enter.
After the scan, click the box for Temporary files.
Hit Ok.
now browse to c:\windows\temp and
C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Local Settings\Temp, delete all the files in Temp's.
NOTE:User/temp is a hidden folder.
Now reinstall the game.
Good Luck!. :)

i tried that, and more, i even reinstalled the entire system one by one, just to find out that the game even crashes (at the same places) without any drivers or other software installed :(

Still crashing on yah after the 1.61 patch?
Just thought I'd mention that the default xp drivers don't have very good...if any... opengl driver support for Nvidia cards.

same problem over here... i only could add that the crash in undermountain level 2 is because there is a read in 0x00000608 which brings the game to crash... perhaps that helps to solve the problem

problem solved
Zalgaddas was right, i forgot to even delete the temp ordner by myself, wasnt expecting windows leaving some stuff there behind.
However, game is working fine now, thx a lot :)

O.K. I'm stuck at the "Wizard's Tower"!
I initially was stuck just going into the door, ,,,,, then I could kill everything in the room, then it seemed that every door that I went through or after killing what was behind that door that my system would "freeze"! I took a bit of time and updated my: sound drivers, video drivers, and anything else that I could think of! After doing that I decided to try again with ALL my settings at the lowest possible settings to make the game get more speed over performance! STILL MY SCHI******T crashes!
What else can I do?

Question Iup:
When you did a clean reinstall like suggested above, did you start a whole new game or use your saved game from the previoius install? If you used a previous save it could be that the save itself is corrupted. Otherwise if you already updated your IDE controller, I don't have much else to suggest for you.
Maybe switching the CD rom from DMA to PIO only? This can be done in device mgr under IDE/ATA atapi controllers. normally under the second IDE controller.

O.K.! I got everything uninstalled per everybody's suggestion(s)!:)
NEW PROBLEM: Inserted "Installation Disc 1" and am prompted to put in the "Play Disc"! When I put the "Play Disc" in, ,,,,,, nothing happens!
I used the "explore" option and found the "Setup" icon in "Disc One" and hit that and it acts like it is going to start, but I soon get a little window that comes up saying "Contact Technical Support"!
WHAT DID I DO NOW?!

i had the same problem about this, had several areas, wich couldnt be loaded, but Zalgaddas help worked here
i removed nwn completly from the computer, cleaned the temp directory (once per windows, once per hand), and reinstalled nwn and voila...it worked now
problems seems to be connected with a bad savegame, wich remained after reinstalling it to the same location with savegames still inside the directory

Well, i did fresh winxp install, so i think the temps are cleared too, and i installed it to new location, but... Ill try once more, to install it to the default dir, if that doesnt help.. game is flying to (For Sale)-box :) had enough fight with this one, so this is the last thing ill do :)
Thanks anyway.

Miigor, what are your system specs?
Also, when you reinstall NWN, try doing what I suggested on this page.
http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums//showthread.php?s=&threadid=342082
IF it still fails to load then its not likely a file corruption issue and more likely driver related.
