Trying to play IG2. I am on an XP pro machine, so I had to do all the setting changes. That all works now, but when I play the game, every time I try to go into the Design menu, it boots me back to windows. Any advice would be really helpful

That is really wild! Do you have the original game? :weird:

What do you mean? I have IG2 Alliances. CDs and stuff.

I mean is it copied, or did you buy it? Cuz it seems to be an install error. Try reinstalling or evrinstalling the game and see if that helped. Your specs are more than fine, and if the game runs, there's pretty much nothing to do with the settings or drivers.

Its the real game. I bought it and stuff.

So I'll try reinstalling it, but I doubt it will work. Cause not only does it boot me going into the design menu, but I can't go into the single player skirmish either...

reinstall didn't work. I even completly wiped all IG2 files of the drive and did a fresh install. I guess I also should have said that I was trying for singleplayer stuff. The singleplayer skirmish window and in the singleplayer campaign, the design window boots me back to windows.

My advice...

1) Uninstall.

2) Delete the directory.

3) Reboot.

4) Install Imperium Galactica 2.

5) Install Patch 1.06.

6) Reboot.

7) Run IG2, if it still doesn't work continue to 8.

8) Change compatibility settings, trying each one. If none works continue to 9.

9) Download and install noCD crack.

10) Try IG2 again, if it won't work try it with each compatibility setting.

11) If it STILL doesn't work, hit computer with hammer and jump up and down making strange noises.

I've also heard of changing your virtual memory to 512 can help but I never needed to. Originally it was very buggy and would crash in weird places, but if I tried to turn on compatibility mode it would crash at startup. After I got the noCD crack I was able to turn on compatibility without trouble and it's worked fine ever since.

ok. I might just try those. I really hope I don't have to download the crack. I might as well not have bought it if I had to do that to play it. Way too much trouble. Plus I wouldn't know where to get it.

the compatibility modes didn't work. A few of them made it come up for like 2 seconds, but it still crashes. Where can I get the no cd thing?

Someone should also make a patch to fix the xp thing, so people don't have to keep playing with their virtual memory settings everytime they wanna play.

I have problem too: I often want to go to check thing or two in windows without closing IG2.exe. Well I get to Windows by pressing win95-key, but when I try to get back to the game..computer just boots :(

Operating system is Windows XP Pro and version of the game is 1.06

Well, there's only one thing left you can do, and that's an OS reinstall. The game should run on your computer once it starts running!

Look we all have problems, but we dont go on the internet trying to tell the world about it now do we?

*NOTE: I dont have problems as I am perfect. Just ask the imperfections in the Unreal 2 forums.
