Ok we have a look at the game and a look at the webpage. My question is what "realtime" decade is this game set in? I mean there are awesome cars from the 70's and the original driver definatly gave you the feeling that it was in the 70's with the afros and such but with speedbikes and other vehicles, which is it?

Maybe there might be a Driver: Vice City?

Well, in the PSM preview it said the game was in a psuedo-70's atmosphere, meaning not really the 70's, it just feels like it, so maybe thy'll have the best of the classics and the new. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

Maybe it doesn't have a date. Maybe its a composition of all the classic hollywood car chase movie...times.:p

The webpage says that Tanner is FBI working alongside the Miami police, did I read that wrong? And if he is that would mean Tobias is too or just an informant?

Hmm... I'm not sure, but I'd guess Jones is either Miami PD (since Tanners working alongside them) or FBI. Tanner was just an undercover cop in the last two games, right? So maybe he got promoted.

yeah he started out as a racecar driver than left that to be a miami undercover officer then I assume transfered to Chicago in Driver 2 and now he's back in Miami as an FBI guy.

I would love to see the original game remade (with none or very few on foot missions) that would be tight, depending on this games success.

Also I think the Stone Temple Pilots song "All in the suit you Wear" is a PERFECT song for the whole Driver series being that Tanner is in nice clothes all the time.

I have a question about Jericho. Being that I haven't made it all the way through Driver 2, He must have survived somehow but whats the story behind that?

I think that there should be a GameBoy Advance game apart from what they have been doing, (make a game then send it to GBA) with a completely new storyline and sprites and everything. Sort of like a completely new adventure following Tanner.

Should it be sidescrolling for the on foot missions or set up like Driver 2 advance with better graphics and cleaner?

It should be 3D, I'm hoping they do a game for the PSP too. I don't care if they do a whole new game or not, it'd just be easier to port the PS2 version and scale it down a whole lot (unless it was for PSP which asmost has the same stats as PS2). Well, I don't know if you read where I said this or not, but they are, according to an Atari's 2004 games list, making a Driver 1+2 special edition, for PSX, that would come out at the end of January. I'm assuming PSX is PS1 and not that PS2.5, it didn't say anything else about the game though, like new features or anything. I hope they also make the D1+2 SE for PSP, along with #3 for PSP.

Shoot I just hope that they make a completly new game altogether with a completely different storyline than any of the Drivers

I think I read in the PSM issue that games can't simply be ported onto the PSP, and that new versions would have to be created for every game...

Oh the PSP and the N-Gage and all the rest of those handhelds except for Straight up Gameboy (COLOR and Advance too) are very over rated. Sure thier cool to have but its too much. A game system dedicated strictly to games and nothing else will provide a better experience than a system that has a phone,Mp3 player, palm pilot, etc.

Don't get me wrong PSP is pretty sweet from the graphics I see but well, call me old school but, it isn't all that.

hmm well cars in those driv3r screens are all 60's 70's and 80's cars, well only some fast sport cars are from 80's, so i think its early 80's or then late 70's, well who cares there is still kickass looking muscle cars

I wonder if there will be just cars or people walking on the street too? If so I hope they aren't as stupid as in Driver 2

matt__jon

There are gonna be people, they just haven't shown us many screens of them. As long as the cars kick ass, I don't care what era they're from.

Yea, they show 2 seconds of a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk right before the car hits the pole in the trailer they have on the website...

This question has puzzled me, not that it truely matters, but what is Tanner's last name?? Does any one know?

Oh by the way matt_jon in Driver 1 he was an ex-stock car racer turned New York Cop with Cap. (or was it Lt.) McKinzie(spelling). Then he transfered down to Miami and went undercover befriending Rufus the lead man for some of the getaway drivers that worked for the Castaldi Family. Then in Driver 2 he transfered to Chicago and partnered up with Tobias Jones (see he has a last name) to track down Pink Lenny and stop Cane. Then in Driver 3, it seems he is now gone back to Miami (who wouldn't its much better than Chicago) and transfered to the FBI working with Miami PD.

Tanner is probably his last name, but I don't ever remember anyone calling him by another name.

Also, I thought he was an ex-stock car racer who started working for the Miami PD. Doesn't it say somewhere Miami is his hometown?

If it is, maybe you can visit his mom and she'll call you by your first name.

No, Tanner has a short, wide head, the guy has different lips, and when relaxed Tanner looks like he's frowning, the other guy looks normal (well, for making a normal face).

I hope that the game's storyline is well worth it. Great Gameplay, graphics and a huge variety but without a bad@$$ storyline the game will be crap.

It won't suck from a bad story, theres always free roam.
