This weekend I installed NWN and updated it to the latest patch via the Update button in the Install Menu. After turning the graphics down a notch to something not as pretty but more playable I had fun for a couple of hours beating up escaped prisoners.
I did notice a couple of glitches however, which may just be graphical problems caused by a game that seems to want a high-end machine, although with 512Mb of PC2700 and a GeForce4-MX440 in my XP 2600+ I didn't think I should have any problems playing an RPG...go figure.
The problem? Random acts of invisibility.
I was playing the Single Player game, not an online or LAN game, so there shouldn't have been any "lag" but that's what it looked like was happening.

Hey, where'd he go?
Oh look, he's here, right next to me.
Before he died, my little halfling thief henchman would occasionally get caught up on some scenery and get left behind, then before I could blink he'd appear right in front of me.
Then I found the totally invisible character. Suddenly my half-Orc Barbarian seemed to be Shadow-Boxing, although he wasn't fighting back, just ducking & weaving and occasionally taking damage from an unseen assailant.
At this point in time I was still in the City of Neverwinter. I had not yet found the key to get into the Prison so I doubt I should have been fighting invisible enemies, although that's what was happening. As I seemed unable to attack my invisible opponent I started running back towards the gate where the City Watch were camped out. As I ran into their midst they sprang into action and attacked the man who wasn't there. There was a groan, then a thud as a body fell to the ground, but even in death the invisible man remained invisible.
Was he really invisible?
Did I miss out on scoring a Cloak of Invisibility because I couldn't see it on the invisible corpse?
Or was this just a graphical glitch?
Can I expect to run into more "invisible" characters further into the game, perhaps even being toasted by the invisible Red Dragon hiding right in front of me?
