I never know what to upgrade on my ships, so I always use AUTO DESIGN. Is this safe, og is there some other strategies that is much better than the auto function? I use the Auto on alle ships and stuff, except the Mega tracked, where I choose Ion cannon instead of the Rocket 2 which the computer chooses.

Please share strategies and tips.........

Depends on your style. If you play the battles manually: Forget the auto design!
I think it only tries to maximize the hit point * firepower value along with all other stuff. It is not a good thing especially in the case of upgrades. (You have to pay two times the price difference between the old and the new. And for example the radars on the smaller ships of the fleet are unimportant (on destroyers, when you have heavy corvettes as well), so a waste of money.) Not to mention that the special weapons have low firepower, so it ignores them.
