i hate the release date.d3 is going to come out way to close to gta5. i heard gta5 will come out near december 2004.so d3 will come out, have its glory then when gta5 comes out it will probably crush d3 in sales and gta5 will probably suck comepared(typo) to d3.

The GTA series has always sucked (except #1 because it was origonal), only reason its popular is because there are to many low life, no friend havin nerds out there who need a release from the real world to shoot someone

Yeah, its a shame games with such low production values get all the glory, such as VC. Its production values were much lower than GTA3's, and yet everyone claims its the best game ever and it will be until GTASA. They're not going to give anyone a chance. Hopefully D3 will have the gameplay we've been waiting for, and maybe then, people will realize how GTA hasn't improved much or any over the years since GTA3.

what do you mean by low production value?...

Is that the taste of sour grapes? Why yes, it is.
All five of the Grand Theft Auto games have been excellent fun. The sixth, whatever they end up calling it, promises to be even better. So what if it's a little bit gory? Don't let your kids see it. The violence is less graphic than every FPS game since Doom. If you want to complain about violent video games, start with Soldier of Fortune or Duke Nukem.
If you prefer Driver to games like GTA that's fair enough, but comparing one with the other before Driver 3 is even released, is stupid.

By low production values I mean glitches, the poorly modeled cars in VC as compared to the well done models of GTA3, the lacking weapon mode, you can't aim most of the weapons anywhere, theres on 2 degrees of freedom in aiming most of the weapons, a horizontal circle. On the M60 (I think) it gives you 3 degrees (lets you aim up and down along with side to side).

I enjoyed GTAIII and GTA:VC and probably what I liked the most was VC's sound track, it was appropriate and impressive. The game was rushed to the market after the success of III but they are taking an extra year for Sin City. So it should be an awesome finale for the series on the PS2. You can only imagine what they have in mind for PS3 and XBOX NEXT.

I imagine it'll be a big leap for the series, but I'm just not sure how much better they'll get at graphics by then. Sure, they moved from 2D to 3D this generation, but they just don't sem like a company that takes time on their game, for some reason.

Does it really matter what they said, you knew what game they were talking about anyway, so don't make a big deal outta nothing.

I have to dispute that. The vehicles aren't poorly modelled. So the crash damage is a bit weird, as it was in 3, but the game's not about crash damage. The vehicles look like genuine eighties motors, so no problems there. :) The handling on some models, like the Sentinel (BMW knock-off) and Admiral (Mercedes) is excellent. The attention to detail with the motorcycle animation... All superb. The light effects - sunlight ripples on the waves, lens flare, neon lights, spotlights, vehicle lights, sunsets, sunrise - and the sound effects - gunshots, screaming tyres, angry motorists, shattering headlight glass ... are all excellent.
The aim is free on all the assault rifles (the Ruger, the M4, the M60) both the sniper rifles, the grenade launcher... the only gun with limited aiming freedom is the Minigun, which is pretty fair given its power. It'd be nice if the auto-target on the pistols and shotguns released after a target dies, but you can't have everything. :)
The only problems I've ever had with Vice City are:
1- One time on an ambulance mission, it placed a person in a walled off area that wasn't yet open, so I couldn't pick him up.
2- Occasional minor graphics glitches on one of the roads north of the lawyer's office in Washington Beach.
3- Falling off a kerbstone can take -2 armour.
None of them are really worth complaining about. Vice City equals the best £35 I ever spent. Ever flown a helicopter to the golf course at sunset, Motley Crue / Blondie / Bryan Adams blasting out of the radio? Beautiful.

Try going as far out to the east on the map as you can when all the buildings light up and it's dark... then turn off the HUD and fly straight towards the beach using 1st-person helicopter view when Sunglasses At Night comes on Wave 103... best video I ever made. :D And I expect to top that when Driv3r comes out...

Gta has always had a cartoony feeling, but Driver is much more realistic :D I never liked gta cause of it...

Who cares about realism? We play video games for fun. If I want a 'realistic' driving experience, I'll get in to my real car and really drive somewhere.

I expect that Driv3r might end up turning things around regarding the ongoing battle between driv3r and gta....woot...WOOOOOOT!

If i had my choice it would be D3 vs. UT2004. All the games in the new found "Free-Roaming" genre sucked at both driving aspect and the action aspect (except The Getaway which had a decent driving engine), but hopefully D3 has the Unreal engine (which is used for Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Tribes, and Rainbow Six games) to provide the action you should expect from a shooter.
But I do expect Driver 3 to be in the running racing game of the year.

It's not a racing game, its a car chase sim... with some on foot action.
