I'm hoping this thread can become the place to post any new, interesting details that are discovered in screenshots or videos.

With that said, I noticed this in the "Boy From The City" trailer: near the end, during the second car explosion, you can see a body fly from the explosion and land on the street. This doesn't necessarily mean that this will happen every time a car explodes or even during play, but it's a possibility, and that is nice.

As long as there is a person in a car that explodes or near an explosion, that said person will go flying.

That is a good pic, the detail on the car is great, especially the engine, looks better than the insides on Stuntman.

The license plates are a nice touch. I found this one in the trailer. I thought it might be a website, because of the "www" but not so. Yet, Atari was formed in 1972, so that just goes to show you that they are putting little things in there. Who knows what else is out there?

great eye for detail you have!
it are the details that make a game live longer...

Yes. If they put hidden signs with jokes on them in there, that would keep the game alive too, just looking for them.

Also, now that I think about it, they shoudn't mark the enterable buildings on radar, or at least you should have to find them before they show up. I remember Driver 2. They said there were enterable buildings on there (wow, one garage, lol) How many hours of gameplay that added just walking door to door in each city. I found the doorbell thing on the one house in Vegas, when I found that, I was so excited, I was like, success at last! I though a butler would come to the door and let me in, so I kept ringing it. And the few garages were fun too. Its more fun thinking about it now then it would be to go back and play it again, mostly cause since then I've noticed the bad framerate, but anyway, if D3 doesn't show you where the buildings are on radar, that'll add hours of fun (and then destroying them on the inside).

other flying body... i'm afraid everyone has seen them before... This one just crashed with his bike

Not always flying, also lying on the ground...

If there are still people who wonder how about the people running around look like etc.... very different.
There are male and female.. They always have differenct clothes etc.. Variation is nice :-)

I need to point out 2 things I hadn't recognized from this pic before.

So we can knock down poles this time around.
Look you can see under the hood!

Also take a look at the bushes in the background.. the variation (again).
They look 2D, but there is so much green, and they all have different shapes and colors... Now go drive around in D2 again... you will see they almost look the same every time..

matt__jon
02-24-2004, 07:27 AM
I think we can only knock down smaller poles, since the cars in the videos get stopped by bigger ones, but maybe bigger vehciles can take out the bigger poles.

El_Nach0
02-24-2004, 07:19 PM
Maybe you need enough momentum to knock down poles. The Black mustang probably wasn't going fast enough.

Another find. This comes from the RTG trailer. See the crosshair? Now, look to the right and notice the two white spots. The first one is easy to see. The second one is almost hidden because it is so close to the person's shoulder. They look like bullet holes to me.

PSgamer262

I read somewhere Tanner would have unlimited bullets for one of his pistols...

matt__jon
02-27-2004, 04:06 PM
I think I might remember that too. If its true, it must be his 9mm Beretta Standard Issue for cops, because the police department would keep him supplied.

stuntdriver
02-27-2004, 05:22 PM
I believe M.E. said it would be unlimited because of the fun factor. Who would want to be in the middle of a car chase, stop for a gun fight and Oops, no bullets. Better go find some. NOT I!

Remember, its Hollywood, and a six shooter fires 30 times.

matt__jon
02-27-2004, 08:00 PM
Maybe the unlimited bullets in one of the guns is also to help you out since theres no hand to hand combat.

Notice that the building has "Ramada" on it. Also, the semi-trailers have the word "Haul-U" on them, although in actuality, it is U-Haul. And it's Ramada Inn, not just Ramada, but I think giving things names that we can recognize from life adds another nice touch to the game.

it looks like Ramadi to me. Unless the last "A" is crooked.

PSgamer262

Iv'e seen the Hard Rock Cafe in the background on one of the boat screenshots from the old trailer...

Vide
03-04-2004, 11:54 PM
Ramada, Ramadi, close enough.;) I initially thought the other building was blocking the rest of the A, but now that you say that, I think it's Ramadi too.

A Hard Rock Cafe? Nice. You should try and find it again and see how it's spelled, since we've discovered they aren't using the exact wording. Those little devils. Sneaky.

I've heard of how big the cities were supposed to be, but the first time I looked at the maps, I didn't think they looked that big, nothing incredibly amazing. However, I noticed something that made me eyes get wide. Look at the map in the top screenshot. Now try and find that section of the city in the overall map of Nice. It's just below the fifth dot. That top map looks like we're seeing a large section, but in actuality, it's tiny. I wonder how long it will take to actually memorize the city streets? I get more and more excited for this game every day.

Man! I didn't realize how big it was, till you posted those pictures together. It's going to take awhile before I have these maps memorized.

matt__jon
03-05-2004, 07:14 AM
I don't even see the place on the map, none of the shores look that shape at all, must be really small (LOL). I'm gonna try to post some maps on here later that are more in depth than those, it'll take me a while to edit them.

Classic_Muscle
03-05-2004, 08:12 AM
I believe it is in the very bottom right corner. Now, take that section and turn it sideways. It should be it. Hard to tell with the giant dot in the way.

Vide
03-05-2004, 12:52 PM
You're exactly right. You have turn the section sideways so that what is on the left is now on the bottom. It then fits basically on top and a little below that fifth dot.

Can't wait to see your maps, matt_jon.

matt__jon
03-05-2004, 04:21 PM
Ok, but it could be a few days before I get the maps up here, and the game might not have all the roads as on my maps (I'm going to use real maps), and also some roads in the game were shortened, so that might be affected too.

I'll take a look at the map that way, I forgot the map rotates, I was looking for somewhere on the Southern coast but none of them seemed to fit, there weren't any sharp edged beaches.

Edit: Yeah, I see it now, I thought the maps were dissapointingly small at first too, but thats much better, I figured they were the zoomed out version since I heard when you go to show map you can zoom in and out.

I think Vide was correct with his first post about the position of the map

Now take a look at this image I made, I rotated the full map so it's now in the same position as the mini map of the screenshot.
If you look real close, you can see the same shapes (curves) of the roads.

Darion350
03-06-2004, 07:13 PM
The city is still freaking huge, especially considering there's going to be a number of them to drive in. Plus, the roads we see on that map may only be major roads. Might not include side-streets and other roads.

PSgamer262
03-06-2004, 07:31 PM
Try looking at the distance of blocks between roads in some of the screenshots if that helps... I'm going to try that now and see how it relates to the size of other games. :D

Take a look at that map, notice the river? Did you know Miami has lots of drawbridges? Time for some Chicago draw bridge jumping, I think thats the only reason they added on that long part on the bottom of Miami, so you could get up to speed even un a semi and jump the bridge. Of course, those may not be drawbridges, but we can hope. Also Nice has a river with roads that cross it, we might have some drawbridges there too. Anyone know anything about Nice?

Does anyone know if there's an airport in Miami and where it is?... In Driver 2, they used shading and light lines to show where secret parts of the cities were, like the fort in Havana and the stadium in Chicago. - to the left of the Driv3r Miami map, below the 1st dot thingy, there's a group of roads in a circle that looks like that. could it be the airport?... at first I thought it was the stadium in some of the pics, but if you look at the in-game map where Tanner is near the stadium, it appears to be on the road to the north of that area. :weird:

matt__jon

The airport would be on the left side if it is in there. I'm not sure how far D3 Miami goes inland though.

I can't wait to ramp sh*t in Miami! Hopefully in Nice, cars will be able to fly off and roll down the mountain sides ENDING IN AN EXPLOSION!!!!!!!!! Sorry. It would be fun though.

I'm pretty sure its the southernmost island in the middle of the map, with the one road and a side road that breaks off of it.

From gamesradar.com

[16/03/04 11:58]
A mini version of the free-roaming speed-fest is due for release in June

Atari have announced that a mobile version of Driv3r will be released alongside the console versions of the game in June. The mini version of the game is currently being developed by Sorrent, whose previous mobile titles include a slew of Fox Sports games, Aliens: Unleashed and, er, 3D Slam Ping Pong.

With the addition of this new mobile version, Driv3r is again scheduled for release across a total of four platforms, after work on the Gamecube version of the game was halted back in September.

In other Driv3r news, Atari have just released the second part of Run the Gauntlet, their online series of live action short films 'inspired' by Driv3r. Head on over to the official Driv3r site to watch it now.

Driv3r is due to be released for mobile phones, PS2 and Xbox in June, with a PC version to follow around three months later

From IGN.com

March 16, 2004 - Sorrent is more than pleased to announce a new deal with Atari to develop and release mobile games based on Atari's Driver franchise, starting with the a tie-in to Atari's upcoming DRIV3R.

?The wireless entertainment industry has evolved greatly over the past two years and cell phones now represent a truly viable gaming platform,? says Greg Ballard, president and CEO of Sorrent. ?At Sorrent we are aggressively expanding our product and licensing strategy to meet the needs of this growing market opportunity. By licensing this IP [Intellectual Property], one of the crown jewels of the Atari portfolio, Sorrent is helping to demonstrate the future of a convergent video game industry.?
?Wireless has emerged as a critical new gaming platform, making it an important extension for a title of DRIV3R's stature,? says Wim Stocks, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atari, Inc. ?In Summer 2004, during the highly anticipated launch of DRIV3R, gamers will enjoy a simultaneous product launch on console and wireless devices.?
