Hopfully I can get some help here as Atari has chosen to ignore my pleas for help and not respond. I'm trying to get NWN gold to run but it won't launch. The launcher comes up and I click play and see the splash screen it disapeares then nothing. I'm running an AMD Athalon XP 2200 processor, a Gforce FX 5600 video card and windows XP. I installed the latest patch and updated my drivers. My task manager shows NWMain.exe running as a process but not an application. Anyone have any ideas?

I have solved this, by installing a Soundblaster card into my machine, and not using the on-board sound. Now the game runs fine. But this is a work-around not a solution for the problem!!

well I bought a new sound blaster audigy card but it didn't help. I also bought and installed Hordes of the underdark hoping it may solve the problem but it didn't. Atari has still chosen not to respond to my tech support requests after 2 weeks. I'm not sure what to do at this point. If anyone can help please respond.

I have the same problem (and NWN Nights used to work on my computer; but I think the one change was Win 98 then, XP now).
What I've done so far is to go into the configuration and tune everything down or off. That worked.
Then I turned things back on one at a time and found I have to leave sound off.
I have a Diamond MX300 sound card - old... but all other games work with it.
So for now my options seem to be:
- Find a new driver (reluctant, since I don't even kow where my current driver is to re-install which seems to work well, and there aren't a lot of drivers to choose from for a card this old, but if anyone knows of a good one...)
- Play without sound
- Install under Win 98 again (I have dual boot but that's a hassle)
- Get a new sound card (apparently not expecting much sound improvement otherwise - many games use CD music)
