View Full Version : Frustrating broken scripts

Wolf's Lair: I've re-attempted this mission for the 28th time and the script it still busted. I get to the DAINN-L point. I hide in the junk and see the Marauder corvettes arrive. Then the single Marauder transport. Then the transport, rather than heading to base (I'm supposed to follow him), it just sits there at a dead stop.
The script worked once (around try #3 out of 28). I've reloaded my game time and time again. What gives? Is there anyway to kick that transport in the a** and make him head towards his base so I can finish this game?
(Gaah! Wow, I'm frustrated at the carelessness of this - and I'm usually a pretty leveled headed bloke)
Here's the savegame if you want to check it out:

You wouldn't have happened to go back to your base to save in the middle of the mission, did you?
That always screws up the savegames big time :(

Well, it took 35 attempts. #35 the script worked, and I cheated so I could assure success. Indeed, actually attempting the mission fair-and-square would have been silly considering the fact that I didn't know when the next time the script would work.
So out of 35 runs, the Wolf's Lair script worked twice. #3 and #35.
Particle Systems should be ashamed of themselves.

I have had that happen once, but every other time, the freighter starts on it's way, sometimes after i've made my careful sneaky approach to near it's hull, then following it very closely until we've LDS'ed out of range.
So all those times it didn't move at all, even if you got close? The Marauder Cutters shouldn't see you if you keep your brightness low and speed low (less than 500 mps, tops). And when I say close to the freighter's hull, i mean nearly hugging it. That seems to work best.
EDIT: That bit about saving in the middle of a mission, yeah that screws up the scripting, i think it can even interfere with a later mission even if it didn't break the current one.

I don't see what's so hard about it, simply hide in the junk, when when the freighter shows up and Clay gets the bright idea of using the freighter as cover, target it, hit F7, and put your feet up while the computer does all of the work.

I've been detected by the Marauder wing using F7, it's safer to make the trip to the freighter manually at low speed.

LOL I blew up the freight and took the cargos... I then warped out and came back; another transport appeared (without escorts) and I followed that one and everything worked out...
