Atari does -not- support their games. Do -not- purchase a title from them. People are purchasing a game form Atari right now, called Unreal 2 : SE and they refuse to keep portions of the online game up and running, and also refuse to let any of their customers know why. They give no updates on when it will be fixed, and are ignoring massive amounts of complaints about the situation.
If you're considering an Atari product, find an alternative or you may be stuck trying to manually connect to other machines for online play using DOS style commands.

I've never bought an Atari product nor do I plan to. Seems like it's been one big, long botchup from the time they changed the name from Infogrames.
Unreal also sucks in my opinion.

Every potential paying customer deserves to know how Atari will treat them when they get their money.

Because of one silly game? Posting it in the UT forums would be more appropriate. Personally, I'll buy any game that interestst me as long as it's not pirated.
And given that Atari provides me with this nice shiny message board, I'll even be perhaps more inclined to support them. Perhaps. Though I buy a computer game about once every two or three years, so don't hold your breath.

Good, UI's are responsible for the wussification of gaming. Real men play Angband on ASCII-only terminals, none of this ridiculous 'graphics' malarky.

I will buy Battlefield:Vietnam. Then I will probably buy UT2004 if I have any cash left (it does look kinda good, but BFV looks better :)).
Then I will give the guy that started this thread a spelling lesson. I haven't seen that many accents since I watched a Portugal:Sweden soccer match :p . Enough with the ASCII already!

That's an impressive Warning Level that guy has.
Isn't it a bit cheeky trying to dis Atari on their own forum?
Sauron: Those 2 are clearly on my shopping list. I hope they have sorted out the map clipping issues from BF:1942.

irritating. a man who gets annoyed at a malfunctioning game, annoyed at the publishers, would love to blow up their hq or something but realises like the rest of society hes totally impotent, so instead chooses to spam their forums and lean back, considering a job well done.
no.
you have 2 options; blow up their hq (or similar real-world direct action) or stfu. dont go and piss off a load of people to perpetuate your frustration. youll earn precisely zero respect and regard for your cause.

LOL. In fact I rememner my first introduction to multipmayer gaming was a text based mechwarrior game (thay called it a Multi User Simulation Envirnment, Or MUSE) called Battletech 3056. It was literally walking around calling up the map thich had # representing trees and so on. Thing is it was bloody good fun and I had some brilliant battles. Trekmuse was similar, but dealt with starship fighting. I guess there is nothing that beats full technicolour imagination veiwing. AND blowing a Cardassian Cruiser in half with a Romulan Destroyer without him even really knowing what had hit him :D
My guess is he uses the game as anti-stress. So if the anti-stress doesn-t work, he vent his stress here.
What is not clear to me is in what way Atari is not supporting. May be bugs? Lack of a patch? Annoying replies from Atari personnel?
I'd say that being more specific would be useful to prove that it is not simply a trolling problem.

considering we have the official unreal boards on this forum, its strange to ponder the nature of the game, but im guessing some potential online option in unreal 2:se (wtf that is) that atari have no servers for, or have disabled, or something. which sucks. but that probably means it wasnt very popular, or didnt work well. which makes sense.
