Strange Happenings

Well the first strange thing has to be me posting something related to EoC, been ages since that has happened.

I have just started another run through of EoC and have noticed a couple of odd things, occasionally the game will quit to desktop for no apparent reason, can be restarted immediately. Always when in flight. Will get a copy of the Flux log next time it does it.

Second odd thing: I have a Hauppage TV card after I have been playing EoC if I try and open the TV prog it tells me another app is using the driver.

I'm guessing the two things are related but not sure, any ideas peoples?

System specs:

AMD 2.8Ghz
1Gb Ram
GF FX 5900XT
Win XP Home
Audigy 2 Platinum

All drivers up to date bar the TV card which causes probs with new drivers so using ones from year old driver CD.

Ah well lets go save the station survivours again d**n dead ship missiles. :)

It may be a sound thing. I have a Hauppage external USB box and I find that the sound drivers used sometimes make it hard to adjust volume if certain Hauppage programs are open or otherwise impede my control over audio.

Maybe try playing with disabled sound (can be accomplished by changing the appropriate variable in flux.ini) and see if it happens?

I've seen a couple of instances where the most up-to-date driver is actually the cause of the problem.

Myself, I had to update my drivers to play Tron 2.0 (ugh... :mad: what a disappointment). After I tossed Tron out of my office, I found EoC would not run correctly with the newest drivers.

I ended up installing drivers from 2 years ago, and now it runs fine. :)

Have a feeling I may have scared the problem as when I tried to reproduce it again last night it didn't do it for the first time in about a week:confused: very odd. Having said that it will probably do both next time I try either. We shall see.
