I am an great admirer of the last AitD Game and now ask myself (and now anybody who knows ) if it`s possibble that now , that soon a Film comes out for the Big Screen , a new AitD Game is planed for one or all Console Plattforms from Darkworks.
It would be nice to see and play a new fantastic Episode of one of the Best Horror-Adventures of all Time.
Recently I want to play it over and over again exclusivly on the X-Box but since I own all the latest Consoles it doesn`t matter for me on wich it will be released -- IF IT WILL RELEASED :-) !!!!!!!!
The X-Box could use a exclusiv Horror-Adventure with a suberb Quality like AitD and when it`s programmed by Darkworks again , nothing could go wrong.
Maybe the Series comes to the fame that it derserves all over the World.
It would be nice when i can get a answer to this urgent Question so that i can get some sleep again :-) !!!!!!
CU & Thx

Sorry mate - I have not heard of another game in the series being planned.
If there ever is one, it will not be for several years (it took them 5 years to develop AitD4).

A Great Thx for the swift Reply ! I think that I was not so well informed about the last AitD as i wanted to ( 5 Years ..gosh !? )
So. maybe continous Prayers to the Great Gaming Lord could do the Trick in the Future :-) .
I will be waiting and play the greatest Horror-Adventure Alone in the Dark 4 again and again till the next Part will be released ( hopefully then in the Year 2010 on the Next Generation of Consoles ....thumbpressingtillbloodscommin´...)
Thx again CU

If there is gonna be AITD 5, I want Fredrick Raynol to be the lead designer. The first AITD was a classic, the 2nd and 3rd was just so so! The fourth was okay but it felt more like Resident Evil!

I think you`re right about going back to the Art of the first Horror-Adventure in History of Gaming. It could be the best way to seperate the Series from the other Titles on the Market and to set an new Standard again.
Sadly i haven`t got the chance to play the first Part of the AitD-Series on PC or Console-Port but I´m sure that the Playfeeling and Gameatmosphere from the first Part to the last are logical Steps to the Mainstream-Front to take more new Players to the actual Standard ( that is for many Players Resident Evil , I think).
As everyone can see , the time pushed the Gamedevelopers to new Thougts about their Series and to Add and Cut their Old Gamebasics to better Standards for all the Hardcorefans and Newbie in the World (Seen in Resident Evil 4 ).
For me , the first thing that interests me in a new Game , is the Story , the Characters and the Atmospere during the Game and I think that AitD has so many chances , in whitch Form or Art , to Take it on with ervery Title on the Market now and tomorrow.

AITD4 may have taken five years to create, but with technology, especially 3D technology, advancing as fast as it has, that aspect of game development won't hold them back.
Now, if they want to spend a year on the 3D development and four years on the plot and the characters, more power to them. ;)

Hi,
First of all, I think Darkworks did a very good job with the engine and the artwork. Some of the best graphics I've ever seen. But the game concept simply sucked. There was absolutely no need to bring AitD to the present, nor to turn Carnby into a Resident Evil wannabe with long hair and a trenchcoat. The original series carries enough weight and conviction that they could have just picked up from where AitD 3 left off. The new concept just didn't work... all you need to do is look at the reviews (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/913776.asp) to confirm this.
If they are planning on doing AitD5, I would like to see them bring it BACK to the 1920s. I also strongly agree with Karthik that they should bring in Fredrick Raynol as a designer, or at least as a consultant (the same way Ubisoft did with Jordan Mechner and the new Prince of Persia game). They really need to ground themselves again. It has all simply strayed way off from what AitD was originally intended to be.. a story of a simple private eye exploring the supernatural. NOT stuff about government agencies and and laser guns.
I have no worries about the graphics engine. Darkworks is more than capable of bringing things to speed. It's the story, characters, and overall concept that need a total overhaul.

Do the developers have a forum where we could talk to them? I think this new sequel is really a chance for us fans to get them to finally make a proper AITD sequel!

What is with all these new Alone in the Dark topics everywhere??? Take it easy. xD
Looking forward to playing it... one day. Right now, I cannot afford sh*t. Although I still play 1, 2, 3, TNN and Jack in the Dark on occasion.
I\'m actually surprised that so little gamers have heard of them. Resident EVil became rediciculously overrated afer RE4.
