I've been wondering which races You guys use to achieve each of the three victory conditions. Since there is a possibility to customize races how do you customize them (if You do) to achieve that particular victory. Anybody want to share?;)

Sole Surviver, I'm not satisfied if I play X's or Senate. It seems like the game is just getting to the good part and it ends. I want to kill'em all.
I like to play Grendarl and then Eoladi, then Silicoid.
Even during sole surviver I like to go with population mass to provide manufacturing and tech. If I can stay alive long enough to get a large population rolling, I will always catch up in tech and armed forces, if I happen to have fallen behind. For a change I play Silicoids, in my mods they are like Psilon, with better manufacturing, I consider them highly resonating crystals, vs the usual slow thinking and growing base race.

I like sole survivor, because I like to play Huge galaxies.
In a huge galaxy you will barely have captured a quarter of it when you get the X victory. I have never used a Senate victory. I generally don't like being in the senate because it doesn't give you enough room to expand in the beginning before you end up bumping into someone who doesn't like you (and therefore having to shift production away from colonization and expansion too early).
My favorite race for my playstyle is Tachidi (base or customized for optimal production, research, and creativity). I Also enjoy playing the Raas, the Nommo, the Evon, and most recently customized Grendarl.

Klackon + poor diplo + large galaxy + senate victory = difficult (and fun) game.
Gotta attack fast.

Sole Survivor for me, too, it seems. I like to have the game last as long as possible, so that rules out the Senate and X victory. I, too, like biggest possible galaxy. Games take months! (very little free time, being married with children, etc. :) ) Current game, the Evon Experience, is at turn 730. Have wiped out 7 AI races, still 9 or so to go! I also like the Sakkra as a race and will occasionally use a bug species. I am a big fan of the unification or hive gov'ts, so will modify the race I choose to get it because of the huge bonuses you get with this gov't type.

Strange. What I read from some people's posts they said they liked the X victory the best.

I like playing as Humans, on Sole Survivor. Did the Senate and X victories, and for similar reasons as above, I prefer to go for the longer game. Besides, I can always stop playing if it's obvious I'm going to win Sole Survivor.
Humans are fun for long games, since most races like you, and even those that don't don't *hate* you. Quite fun to be the swing vote in the Fish/Lizard war (Ok, everyone out of the pool...erm, Senate!).
And I've managed to win by Senate without going to war as a Human.

Well, I'm playing my very first game ever. I call it my first game, though I did spend a few hours playing MoO3 at a friend's house, with him leaning over my shoulder telling me what to do.
Anyhow, my first game on my own computer with my own copy of the game is in a small galaxy with 16 players. Small crowded galaxies were my favorite in MoO2. So that makes 18 of us counting the New Orions and me. I'm playing a Sakkra modded for production and environment (so I can overdrive production w/o too much pollution.)
So far things are going well. I had my first missle LC, a 4-pod troop LC, and the infantry to put on it, by turn 11. Turn 14 the first Fish HW fell, turn 24 the second Fish HW fell.
It looks like I might win this game, though I have no idea by what victory. What if I wipe out all 16 other of the baby races and it's just me with every planet in the galaxy and the NO, sitting there 25 tech levels ahead of me? Hrrm.

Can't wait to hear how this one turns out. I mean, Poptoad has a real problem here.
Long ago, I was moving three armadas which had just knocked off a Guardian to another war front. My ships were either cruisers or light cruisers probably, loaded with missiles and modified hard beams. I was in a system belonging to my ally, who also had three armadas there, I think SR and CV. My ally had been dumb enough to declare war on the NO, and the same turn I arrived the NO arrived with one armada. Ah ha ! I get to decide combat. So, I selected intercept fleet. I mean, six armadas against one ! Mr. NO is gonna be taught a little lesson on this day.
The battle wasn't even close. Blam ! Six mighty armadas are space dust. We might have knocked out one or two of his ships. A dramatic lesson in what those extra tech levels actually mean. They render even a horde strategy useless.
Since then, I walk wide o' New Orions.

after reading complaints about how fast the Senate victory was coming, i played Sole Survivor for most of my pre-patch games, and just abandoned them when they started to bog down. i was learning quickly at the time, and always wanted to try out all the new stuff we were all figuring out, and to do it in a vital young empire!
then about the time the patch came, i started adding X to the list in order to add a shortcut to my games. i'd wait until they started to bog down, and then start sending Expeditions. by that point i would have the production to crank out the Recon ships, and they had fast engines, so it wouldn't take long.
then i would treat it like a race, to see what i could do before the X victory came home.
post patch, with the NOs voting power re-adjusted, i started turning Senate back on. since then, i've never turned it back off.
fantastic trading, empathic Tachidi were my favorite for a while, but if i ever play them again in the Senate, i'm going to have to try it on Impossible, to keep things from being too inevitable!
i'm enjoying the fantastic trading, empathic Grendarl now. but as soon as i actually finish a game with them, i'm going to move on.
some non-fantastic trading, non-empathic Silicoids are going to be my next personal challenge.
i've never played as any type of Humanoid or Etherean... might have to give them a spin some day... and the only time i ever tried to be Nommo, i got my shell handed to me in short order... that was probably this time last year, tho. i might have enough additional clues now to actually do it right.
@Poptoad: if you have the whole galaxy doing research for you, you aren't going to be 25 levels behind for long...
