Hey everyone. Just wondering if anybody had any news on Ghost town in the sky. It would be great if someone big bought it and turned it around. It would be a great place to have and keep a park. Just wondering if anybody had any news.

I haven't heard anything, but I'd be surprised if a big player were to buy it. Six Flags is struggling to get their costs in line, and I don't think it has enough growth and profit potential to interest Cedar Fair. Because of the scenic location, I could see some reason why Busch would be interested (since they seem to excel at scenery), but I wouldn't bet on it. I think it would be more likely that a small company or a "Mom & Pop" operation would buy it, if anyone does.

I'd like to see the park saved due to its very unique location, but that location also makes it tough to get in sufficient crowds for a profitable operation, and I suspect it makes development at the park fairly expensive.

There are rumors out there that the park is possibly being purchased by a Christian organization to turn it into a retreat / theme park....

I heard that the plans include an ampitheatre, new $5 million gondala, etc.

I don't think the park reopened this year, so it wouldn't really help for you to get there, anyway. According to RCDB, it didn't open in 2003, either.

It would be nice if they did open it back up. They didnt open in 2003 and at beginning of 2004 was put up for sale. Everybody thought that they were doing maintenance in 2003 but we were surprised. They did have a buyer at one time but the seller would not close on it because the buyer was going to tear down the park. The seller only wants to sell if someone reopens the park, thats the saying anyway. Who knows I guess we will see. Thanx everybody.
